After waking up last week with a dry, raspy cough, I have been sooking sweeties ever since. I did buy a couple of packs of Soothers on Friday but this morning I had nothing left. I asked my son to go to the shop and find some hard boiled sweets and he came back with Werther's Original Butter Candies.

These butter candies are doing nothing for the pain in my throat, but I hadn't expected them to. They do though, make my mouth water and make swallowing much easier.

Werther's Original are an attractive sweet, they are a deep golden colour, with a soft sheen. They come in a golden, yellow shiny wrapper, which crinkles as you open it.

Werther's Original are gorgeous candies. They are sweet, smooth and very creamy and are actually made with real butter and fresh cream. They are a lovely shape and size which makes them very comfortable in your mouth. They are rounded at the top and have a little dimple in them, which makes them an ideal sweet for sooking. They are very moreish and it is very easy to work your way through a packet. I also find it quite difficult to not start crunching into them.

Werther's Original contain 424 calories per 100g, which is quite high. I have a 150g bag and I'm more than half way through them!

These butter candies are lovely and make a change from chocolate. They are great for sharing, but I don't think my bag will last long enough to share with anyone!
