For those of us who are on the "eternal diet" we have learned along the way the sugar is bad and reducing your intake really does help with your final goal... Well, that is all well and good until you are having a bad day or a long day and can think of nothing better than putting your feet up with a nice sweet cuppa.
A great alternative to two teaspoons of sugar is to use sweeteners instead: I compared the calorie difference between the two products with sugar around 20 calories per tea spoon and less than 2 per sweetener (Which I find tastes about the same).
This product is the one that I have concluded is my favourite after trials of several different ranges: It was cheap to purchase the product (Less than £1) and I have found so far that it has lasted me for ages. Within each small box (That comes with a handy button you can push to release one at a time) there are hundreds of the small sweeteners which when you consider you are only using about 2 per cup you are onto an economic winner!
The small packet is light and easy to carry and is securely sealed to stop any spillages - This has proven to be a heaven send for me as I love to head out to meet friends in coffee shops but don't want to worry if I'm having a particularly good week. It also has a really long shelf life (Nearing years) so is something that you won't have to worry about going out of date!
Perfect for watching your sugar intake the sweeteners are a must have in your work drawer or handbag!
I always used to have two large spoonfuls of sugar in my tea and I would drink tea by the gallon but after realising I was far too overweight for my liking or indeed anyone else liking too I decided this is one easy thing that needs to be cut out.
Replacing the sugar with sweetener was a great way to save extra calories easily throughout the day but the real trouble I found was finding a sweetener that I liked. I tried a lot of different ones before deciding that this Sweetex one was the one for me.
Not only was the taste the most pleasing and you get a lot of sweeteners for your money but also I liked this one because it doesn't contain the dreaded Aspartamine sweetening substance that many products like this or low calorie drinks have in them. Some people will avoid this chemical like the plague as it is said to lead on to rather nasty diseases including caner and many others although no firm proof of this is recorded.
You can pick up the Sweetex in the handy little containers they come in from most supermarks and a good deal of smaller independent shops too. The price can vary accordingly but I pay a smidgen over £1.20 p for the smallest tube which has 80 sweeteners in. The tube comes tightly packaged in a plastic covering on a cardboard back and it is well protected when you buy it.
The container does work well at dispensing the sweetener although I always make sure I drop the desired 2 sweeteners onto my hand rather than into the cup because sometimes there will be trouble with getting the tablets out and I might not get the right amount so it is always better to get them into your hand and then add them to your drink.
These sweeteners are far smaller than any other I have ever seen and they are impossible to cut in half because of their small size. My mum only takes half a sweetener and I have had to buy a pot of powdered stuff so that when she is round mine I don't have to attempt to cut a Sweetex in half. Impossible.
The Sweetex has the nicest flavour of sweetener in my opinion and considering there is no calories in each one the product does a good job at replacing my two heaped tea spoons of sugar.
The pills themselves maybe small but this doesn't mean they aren't just as sweet if not sweeter than other brands of sweetener around and my mum just can't have them as she claims they are far too sweet for her.
All in all I am happily plodding along with these Sweetex sweeteners and I am more than happy to have these over calorie packed sugar any day. So better for you and it doesn't take long to get used to the slight different flavour. I think for the fact that they are an affordable substitute for sugar, taste good and are easy to take out and about that they should definitely get a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and a high recommendation!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Being on the go all the time and on a diet is a bit annoying when you want a healthy alternative to sugar in a coffee shop. I used to use splenda but then found this handy pocket sweeteners dispenser.
When I first got this tub of sweeteners i thought it would be a nice treat to have one on its own. I was very wrong. Without diluting it in water, it doesn't taste much different from paracetamol so make sure you don't try that at home...However, when added with tea or coffee or whatever hot beverage you choose to have it with, it tastes near enough the same as sugar. Of course, it isn't going to taste exactly the same as sugar but there is such a small difference, the healthier option of sweetex is so much more worth it
The dispenser is easy and very efficient. All you need to do it push the green button at the top and a very small pill looking like thing plops out from the bottom. The sweeteners are about the size of a peppercorn while the dispenser is about the size of a large thumb....odd comparison but all I could think of...
Although they are very small, one of them is as sweet as a teaspoon of sugar so one tub is very long lasting.
*** The bad***
Although the pill like sweeteners are good for carrying around with you, seeing as it isn't powder, this means that you can only use it for drinks rather than cooking as well.
The tablet sweeteners are a lot cheaper than powder sweeteners, however. I brought this for about £3-4. There are 800 tablets in each dispenser so imagine how long that would last you!
Sweetener (Sodium Saccharin), Anticaking Agents (Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate).

I'd recommend this to everyone. Why shouldn't you buy something that is so low in calorie, low carb and for such a cheap price!
After a visit to the doctors and being told that he was on the verge of being diabetic (0.1 on the scale) my husband was told to cut down on sugar and that might do the trick.
My husband said he would cut out sugar at the weekend and take sweeteners then.
The next day I went and bought some Sweetex sweeteners and put two in every cup of his coffee. Come the weekend when he was going to start having sweeteners I had to confess that he had been having them in his coffee for 3 days!
So what did he think of it? just that I might have changed the coffee or put in a different amount than I usually do but he was okay with the taste.
Sweetex are calorie free so good if you want to diet.
They are sodium saccharin based table-top sweeteners.
The dispenser is very neat and can fit in your pocket or handbag.
To use them you just press down the green top to dispense of the tablets. Each one represents one teaspoon of sugar.
I found though that it is best to put them into the cup before the water for coffee or tea and then stir. I found that if you made the tea or coffee and then put them in they did seem to fizz a bit and looked a bit unsightly on the top of your drink.
Of course your drink tastes a bit different but you do soon get used to taking them as they are not quite as sweet as sugar but passable.
My husband did go back to the doctors months later and wasn't on the scale that time. I must admit that I didn't think I would get him to take sweeteners but now he has them and has not gone back to sugar which is a good adv ertisement for Sweetex.
You can buy them in different amounts from 100 to 1200 but look around as the price does vary a lot.
