I am currently working my way through my Bumper Bag of sweets that I bought at Tesco today for 84p. One of the types of sweeties that came in this bag by Swizzels Matlow is Love Hearts.

I bought this bag of sweets while out on a 3 hour drive with my boyfriend, and we had great fun flirting with each other over the love hearts. It says on the front of the bumper bag that the selection of sweeties is meant for children, but I assure you we are grown ups (or near enough, anyway) and we loved them.

Love hearts are sweet, circular discs that pack up into a long tube shape and are wrapped in plastic. You unwrap one side of the plastic to get the hearts out. A heart shape is stamped onto every sweetie and each one has a different sappy little saying on it. For example, we got hearts that said "Be Mine," "You and I," "What a Smile," that sort of thing. It was very fun being given a compliment and a sweetie at the same time and made for a nice, romantic moment although I know that sounds very corny and sappy!

The flavour of the love hearts is also very nice. They crumble into a fine powder when you put them in your mouth and have a nice sweet and sour taste to them a little bit like fizzers do. They melt in your mouth and are certainly almost made entirely of sugar with some kind of flavouring added to it. They don't contain artificial flavours.

I don't know how much love hearts cost in individual packets but I would imagine you can get them for under 15p. Or just buy a bumper pack of sweeties that contains these - but don't do as I'm doing now that I'm home which is to stuff myself with the rest of the sweeties in the name of research!
