Just a few of the many, many messages that can be found on Matlow's Love Hearts! Who hasn't gotten a packet of these and picked out the most appropriate and special ones to give to a loved one? Be it a partner, a close friend, or the kid in the playground you had crush on as a child?

Roughly the same diameter as a 1p coin, but a little thicker, each Love Heart is a tangy sherbet-like sweet, which breaks up upon chewing to foam slightly in the mouth. The sweets have a heart embossed on each side, with a different message embossed within one of the hearts on each sweet, usually with a message of affection.

There are six different flavours, and each one has a different flavour. The white one is a sort of plain vanilla one, yellow is lemon, orange - i'll let you figure out, green is lime, purple is a kind of berry flavour, and red is a strong cherry flavour. They all have a nice sherbet aftertaste after fizzing away on your tongue, and definitely help to refresh the taste buds!

Available from most newsagents, they are still pretty cheap - I think you can pick them up for around 25p still, and for this you get a roll of 20 sweets, packaged in clear cellophane, twisted at each end, with a further paper wrapper around this. I have also seen longer rolls, of around 40 sweets, and you can also get Giant Love Hearts, which are huge!

Love Hearts are extremely tasty, and I would say they're a national institution. If you've never gotten around to trying them, get out there and buy some now!
