Tesco Teeth and Lips
Advantages: Great taste
Tesco's Teeth and Lips are another bag from the batch of six that I purchased a few weeks ago whilst I was shopping in my town centre. I must say that they were rather nice and therefore are what I am going to review today.
The Teeth and Lips cost 38p a bag and contain 100g of sweets. They can however be bought on offer alongside two other bags for £1 giving you a saving of 14p, which isn't massive but is better than nothing. The bag in question is a vibrant pink in colour and is quite eye-catching when it is on the shelf. On the front there is also a picture of a very happy looking green alien with a jet pack strapped to his back. Because the pack is pink I do think that it appeals more to girls but the sweets themselves are definitely suitable for both boys and girls.
On the front of the pack is the information that the sweets contain no artificial colours or flavours and the back of the packet contains all the allergy advice, ingredients lists and nutrition information you would expect to find. The sweets contain no nuts in their recipe and they are not produced in a factory that handles nuts but the manufacturers cannot guarantee that the ingredients are nut free and therefore I wouldn't recommend these sweets to those with a strong nut allergy.
The nutrition information is as follows:
Calories - 338
Protein - 6.1g
Carbohydrate - 76.2g
Of which sugars - 58.5g
Fat - 0.1g
Now obviously sweets aren't the healthiest thing in the world but once in a while they can't really do you any harm. These sweets are rather average in their nutritional values and therefore should like all sweets be eaten in moderation.
Now to the sweets themselves... opening the pack I was meet by a sweet strawberry scent that really made me want to dive right in. I'll say here that I am a big strawberry addict and so anything that smells like that blessed fruit is a hit with me. The smell however wasn't overpowering and in my opinion Tesco's have got this just right.
The bag itself contains two types of sweet; a red jelly sweet in the shape of a set of lips and a jelly and foam compound sweet shaped like a set of teeth. My bag contained 15 of the sweets shaped like lips and 12 of the sweets shaped like teeth, which in my opinion is quite reasonable for the price
It is of course however the taste that is most important. The 'Lips' sweets have quite a sweet yet refreshing strawberry taste and a chewy texture that makes them quite delicious. The 'Teeth' sweets are much softer and have a less solid texture than the sweets shaped like lips. They also have a strawberry taste but this is less vivid than that of the 'Lip' sweets.
In conclusion for me these sweets are truly delicious. The strawberry taste is just right, not too strong and not too weak and the mix of textures makes them a real pleasure to eat. Furthermore they are great value for money and are therefore brilliant for children. If you haven't tried them yet then maybe it is high time you did.
Summary: Great value product
