“ Brand: Thorntons / Type: Candy „
I bought these when I spotted a 165g bag on offer for £1 in Morrisons, and I thought they would be a nice treat. Thorntons is quite an 'upmarket' chocolate brand and I usually like their products, even if they are generally overpriced, so I was looking forward to these.
They come in a bright orange bag which looks good and is very easy to spot on the shelves. It isn't a resealable bag though which I think would be better for something like this which you probably wouldn't be eating all in one go.
The toffi-chocs are basically just small pieces of Thorntons toffee coated in chocolate, in a sphere shape like little balls. They do differ in size, but all are perfectly manageable bite-sized pieces.
The first thing that disappointed me about these was the chocolate, it's very odd. It has a very thin kind of plasticcy feeling film on it which is not pleasant at all and if you prefer to suck the sweets you have to get through that before you can taste the actual chocolate. Once you do get to it though the chocolate is very tasty. Creamy and smooth, not overly sweet, and every bit as delicious as you would expect from Thorntons.
The next thing that disappointed me was the texture of the toffee, which I found to be too hard and brittle, so when I chewed it it did not go chewy at all as toffee should, it just broke into tinier and sharper pieces and was really a chore to eat. The way I get around this is by sucking the sweet for ages first which then makes the toffee soft enough to chew. Again though the flavour is delicious and rich without being overpoweringly sugary sweet.
Luckily because of the awful texture of these sweets I find them too much of a chore to be moreish, because they have 494 calories, 24.3g of fat and 53.1g of sugar per 100g so they're definitely not good for you.
Overall I was very disappointed with these, they weren't the lovely treat I was expecting.
I am a huge fan of toffee and while I was passing Thorntons while in town a few days ago I popped in and bought a couple of my favourite items, one of which was a box of original Toffi-chocs. I have to be so careful not to purchase these too often as I have a tendency to eat the entire box over a period of a couple of hours. Anyway there are worst things I could be doing!!!!!
Toffi-Chocs quite simply are round pieces of delicious toffee smothered completely in extremely thick Thorntons milk chocolate. Unlike some similar types of products available from other retailers the pieces that you get are large. The box actually states that they are bite-sized pieces. I actually have quite a small mouth so I would tend to disagree with this. (My husband wouldn't !!!!). At least though you can only eat one at a time so they tend to last a bit longer.
The packaging comes in the trademark brown Thorntons colours with the logo in white. It states that these are the original version of the chocolates which are the milk chocolate variety. The box contains 8oz or 230grammes of product. It shows a picture of the item on the front which look very appetising and certainly entices you to want to try the product. The reverse of the box states basically that they are toffee smothered chocolates.
The taste is absolutely gorgeous. I appreciate that not everybody loves the same flavours of chocolate however Thorntons Milk Chocolate for me is amongst one of the best. It is not sickly sweet like some varieties and has a wonderfully silky smooth consistency. The toffee is lovely and deliciously creamy if not a little tough to chew so I would certainly recommend strong teeth before deciding to eat this. It is very pleasant tasting and the chocolate which is deliciously thick compliments it extremely well. Overall I would definitely recommend these as they are a lovely occasional treat.

All this corresponds to a whopping 33 Calories per toffee-choc!!! Give them a go though. Item price is £ 2.75. They had a special three for two offer on though at time of purchase.
I am writing this feeling rather queasy from having polished off half a bag of these that I was going to give to a friend and decided instead that they'd be better of being eaten by me....
They really are rather good, chocolate on the outside and lovely toffee on the inside which after a few good chews gets really soft and tastes all buttery. That's the positive side. On the negative side, each Malteser sized Toffi Choc works out at 33 cals, which means I've just consumed at least 500 cals in one sitting. This is easily done with these yummy sweets, so beware!! Additive wise, the ingredients don't look too bad - there is only one E number in there, although obviously tonnes of fat and sugar - so one to avoid if you are weight watching.....
They can be found not only in Thornton shops but also in supermarkets, and are definitely worth a try if you have a very sweet tooth. Enjoy!
O Thorntons Toffi Chocs - you are BAD to me! I loved the original toffee, i thought that the chocolate covered original toffee pieces were a massive improvement on that. And now, Thorntons have these little, bite sized pieces of toffee covered in milk chocolate which I can't buy any more because I would stuff them into my mouth by the handful.
the great thing about the toffee in these sweets is that whilst it is chewy, it also has a lovely creamy texture and will, with only a little persistent gumming, melt in the mouth. The combination of this with the milk chocolate gives a fantastic taste sensation. Because the pieces are so small, you can eat them slower and make the box last longer. although if anything like me, that means around 45 minutes with a good wind behind me.
this is a great addition to the original chocolate range. i'm just waiting now for a dark chocolate mini toffee choc box and then my face stuffing can continue all day round.

The toffee is delicious like the tray old fashioned toffee tasting, this is the best way to describe it.
