I always like to have a packet of gum, or mints in my desk or bag to freshen my breath between meals. However, Orbit does a lot more than freshen breath, read on!
Orbit is available in 4 flavours, Peppermint, Spearmint, Strong Mint and Lemon Lime. The thing that sets Orbit apart from other brands is that it contains Xylitol. Xylitol is basically a "tooth friendly" sweetner which has been scientifically proven to reduce cavities, and help prevent inner ear infections (chewing gum containing xylitol helps clear inner ear wax and prevents the growth of bacteria).
The other benefits of chewing Orbit, other than for fresher breath are quite amazing, it can help keep teeth clean between brushings. It can also help strengthen teeth and gums. It can also assist in rebuilding tooth enamel and put a stop to plaque formation. All this from the simplest piece of gum, great eh! But that's not all!
On further research I also found out to my astonishment that chewing gum may actually help improve concentration as the chewing action increases blood flow to the brain. Another theory is that chewing gum can actually help reduce stress as it stimulates certain areas of the brain.
Well I for one have incorporated this easy and effortless 'excercise' into my daily routine, to try to improve my oral health and well being.
As for the flavour, well its minty fresh, the taste lasts for quite a while and it's really soft to chew. It doesn't go all hard like some others out there.
It's widely available, stocked in most supermarkets and for around 70p for a handy sized pack containing 14 pieces, then I recommend you too add this to your daily oral hygeine regime.
I am constantly buying mints and chewing gum, my handbag is full of different packets, I have no real brand preference with any of these things, but Orbit always seems to be one of the cheaper brands.
Orbit complete comes is a few different flavours, I personally detest spearmint so have gone for the peppermint, but I think there are a couple of fruity ones too.
The packets usually cost around 60p, but you do get 14 sticks, which is pretty good value for money. It does depend where you get it from though as I have seen multi packs of this product in the pound shop, which are a great bargain.
The packet is a resealable cardboard packet which contains 14 individually wrapped sticks. The sticks look quite small in comparison to other sticks of gum, but they are quite thick, so pretty much amount to the same. I would say each stick is about 5cm long.
There is a small logo on the front of the packet which says "British Dental Health Foundation Approved", which can only be a good thing. It also says that it's suitable for vegetarians. The ingredients are listed as: Sweeteners Sorbitol, Xylitol (15%), Mannitol, Aspartame, Acesulfame K, Gum Base (Contains Soybean Lecithin), Humectant Glycerine (Non-Animal), Flavourings, Citric Acid, Fumaric Acid, Malic Acid, Flavour Enhancers E627, E631, Antioxidant BHA, Colour E100.
I tend to find that I can tear each stick in half, as I don't really like having a huge wad of gum in my mouth, plus it makes the packet last twice as long. It is a lot easier to store half sticks in this packet too, as they are in compartments.
The Peppermint gum, is quite strong, and it's not too hard to soften it up. Some gum takes forever to go a bit softer. The taste of the peppermint is actually a bit sweet too, but the good thing about this particular gum is that it does stay minty for quite a while. It doesn't lose it's flavour quickly at all. So even after you have disposed of this gum your breath still feels really fresh.
I would highly recommend this gum, as it's flavour stays for longer and it's relatively cheap. A good one to keep in the handbag, along with the millions of other products.
I got this chewing gum from my dentist but I have bought it before from shops and newsagents and I am mainly here going to talk about the spearmint, the green one. I like this one best (they also do fresh mint and peppermint) because it is the least minty but it is still good. I tend to keep a packet of this in my bag and my car for when I am a bit bored and fancy a drink but dont have one, or just want a fresher taste in my mouth.
You get 14 tabs in a pack and each one is a little stick of gum, like the bigger ones you used to get but a bit thicker and I have found that this is my new favourite gum format as I didnt used to like the hard coated little tabs.
The gum comes in an easy to use packet but I think that it is too easy to pull out more than 1 at once and also if the packet gets bashed about a bit or damp, it is just cardboard so it gets completely ruined. The chewing gum also gets ruined by water and also goes stale very quickly, which i have never experiencd with a gum before.
Each little tab is covered with a litle piece of paper which makes a good way to wrap the gum in at the end of use to avoid making a mess. I like this as with other chewing gums you have had to tear a random piece of paper or part of the packet off which doesnt work too well.
The gum is big in flavour and I even sometimes only need half a piece. This is good as the gum can be quite expensive I think. It does leave you with a really good taste in your mouth and chewing it is a good way for me to suppress hunger pangs between meals!
One thing I think is a bit wierd about this is that they are really pushing that it "contains xylitol" as if that is some really good thing which will benefit your teeth. This is infact a standard sweetener and is used to make it sugar free. I just don't like how they are deliberately misleading people.
Chewed these for the first time when I forgot to brush my teeth as I was in a hurry. I made a mistake by buying these in a garage as they cost me a whooping 85p, but I guess I was desperate, as I am sure 14 pieces of chewing shouldn't be costing that much.
Not sure how much they cost in other places as I have only bought them once, but I am sure they are cheaper in supermarkets.
The gum is sugar free, meaning I can chew for as long as I want without worrying, however it does taste sweet at the beginning as if its got sweeteners. But with these orbit complete I found my self chewing for a few minutes as little as 20minutes and the taste will be gone.
The chewing gum leaves you breathe fresh and smelling of mint for quiet a while actually (at least an hour, so I was quiet ipressed by this). I can't really prove if the chewing gum actually does what it says on the packet. As orbit claims that the Xylitol in the gum will strengthen teeth and gums, clean teeth between brushings, stop acid attacks, rebuilds tooth enamel and puts a stop to plaque formation.
The gum comes well packaged in a cardboard package and each chewing gum wrapped individually. This is only chewing gum so there is hardly any calories in it for those weight watchers.
I would recommend this gum to those who might forget to brush their teeth here and there, or if you just want a fresh breathe, because it did work for me. The spearmint is not true strong, therefore won't leave your eyes watery, as we know some chewing gums are too strong. The chewing is very soft to chew but I tend to chew two at the same time as one doesn't feel like it's enough. Therefore the gum didn't last long, it was gone within two days, i would have wanted it to last longer.
-- Suitable for vegetarians
-- Taste on the gum doesn't last long, but your breathe stays fresh for awhile.
-- Has xylitol, which helps to protect your tooth.
--It's sugar free,,so you can chew for as long as you want.
I have recently given up smoking for the second time the first time I gave up was the day I got my big fat pregnant on a wee stick, I lasted a whole 11 months and then one day got bored and succumbed to the evil weed once more so now here I am climbing back on the wagon to smugness!
Anyway to help me along with my journey this time I have no pregnancy bump or little lungs to worry about poisoning (I know I have a daughter but do not smoke at home!) so its pretty hard with just the will power thing. I have therefore swapped fags for Orbit Complete.
Orbit Complete peppermint comes in a blue rectangular box and informs me it is sugar free and has Xylitol which apparently cleans teeth between brushing, strengthens teeth and gums, stops acid attacks and freshens breath.
The little cardboard box opens at the back like an envelope and has a little slit in it to reseal which is quite handy as it stops all the sticks of gum getting lost in the black hole that is my handbag.
The sticks of gum come individually wrapped which is a good idea no germs getting on them in the little box in there paper wrapper. They are white sticks with like a powdered coating.
The gum itself is quite easy to chew not too much that makes you heave and not too little to make you feel like you need two. It tastes OK although is a bit sweet for me I like my gum to be that bit stronger but the flavour does last and the gum doesn't get all stringy and dry and hardwork after a few minutes of chewing.
The cost is 14 sticks of gum for £1.45 which is not to bad I guess plus this was in the middle of theatre land may be cheaper elsewhere.
So now I am an annoying chewer instead of an evil smoker. Least my teeth will benefit apparently!
I like to try and keep my teeth as healthy and clean as possible to prevent any unnecessary dentist trips. I have recently given up smoking so in order to try and take my mind off the cravings I have been chewing many different types of gum.
Orbit Complete is available in 5 or 6 different flavours and I usually purchase a packet of 3 from Tesco for around £1.45 and I think this is a very reasonable price with each packet containing 14 tabs.
The chewing gums come in a little silver packet like you get with tablets and you can just pop one out whenever you want to. The chewing gums are around an inch in size and my favourite is the peppermint flavour. The flavour is lovely and strong before I even put one in my mouth and they have a lovely hard coating on the outside. They are fairly long lasting and I can a good 15 minutes out of them before they lose their taste.
I have found that my teeth are in better condition that ever recently but I think that this just because I've been brushing three times a day, not smoking, not drinking coffee or wine and because I've been chewing lots of this gum. My dentist says gum is fine to chew and there are some that can help me, this being one of them.
So far I have avoided having any fillings and I want to keep it that way so I don't mind a little expense here and there as hopefully in the long run it's saving me lots of time and money.
This chewing gums seem to be a big hit with everyone around me recently as since I've started to chew them a lot so have other people and at least I know I always have some with me in my handbag to keep those nasty cravings at bay.
This chewing gum is recognised by the world dental federation as helping to give naturally white teeth so I guess it really does work! Best of all it's sugar free (but it does contain Aspartame so best to avoid if you want to avoid that).
I have found these to be very effective at helping to keep my teeth healthy, they are reasonably priced and I've not been getting any plaque build up. I am going to rate these 5/5 and would definitely recommend them.
Having recently been to the dentist and been told that I eat far too much sugar (Chocolate being the main culprit) I am now becoming a lot more aware of my sugar intake as well as my overall oral health and in my effort to try an improve my current situation, and prevent the cost and discomfort of many more fillings, I have been looking at ways to improve on my bad habits a little.
Having done a bit of research I found that Orbit, one of the most popular chewing gums on the market, contains Xylitol which is an additive that is proven to help reduce tooth decay and which has received official endorsements from six national dental associations
Xylitol is a "tooth friendly" non-fermentable sugar alcohol that is found naturally in fruit, berries, mushrooms and lettuce in small amounts. Also it has been found that chewing gum regularly after meals helps to increase the saliva in your mouth, which also helps to reduce bacteria and plaque and can actually help to improve the enamel on your teeth.
Orbit complete contains 15% Xylitol in its ingredients, it's also suitable for Vegetarians and diabetics as Xylitol does not affect blood sugars.
On the down side it does contain Phenylalanine which if consumed in excess may cause laxative effects (although I have never suffered this problem even after once going through a whole packet in a day).
The flavour I chose was the spearmint option as it's my favourite. One tab is this gum seems to certainly be enough in the taste department as it's nice and full in flavour. The flavour lasts a remarkable amount of time and I usually end up discarding it long before the taste has disappeared!!
It's nice and minty with a little bit of sweetness that you get with spearmint flavour and the gum is nice and chewy and it really helps to remove the furry feeling you get in your mouth after eating or drinking coffee.
The gum comes in a nice little cardboard packet with an envelope flap on the back. You get 14 tabs of gum each individually wrapped and secured inside the box. Even when the box is opened I found that the gum doesn't spill out everywhere in the bottom of the bag which is great if you have a large handbag!
It usually coast around 50p per packet in most supermarkets and it's also available in multipacks of 3 which will save you a little bit of money at around £1.30. It also comes in several different flavours including peppermint, Strongmint and even Lemon and Lime which is nice and refreshing on a hot day and makes a nice change from the mint.
I would definitely recommend trying this gum as it tastes really good, the flavour lasts for a long time and anything that is going to help keep the dentist from your door has to be good thing!!
I always like to have my trusty chewing to hand, being quite a lover of spicy food and garlic I do find it can come in very handy at times. There is also the fact, that I am sure everyone must know by now, that chewing gum after meals and snacks can help and even improve dental health. Chewing gum regularly after meals helps to increase the saliva in your mouth, which in turn helps to reduce bacteria and plaque and can actually help to improve the enamel on your teeth.
My ultimate favourite chewing gum has to be Spearmint Orbit Complete. Orbit Complete is made by Wrigleys, who as I am sure you will all know, have been make chewing gum for years, and in my opinion they are getting better at it all the time! Orbit Complete is available in 5 flavours Spearmint, Peppermint, Strong Mint, Strawberry and Lemon and Lime. I personally do not like the fruit flavours, they just don't seem to leave your mouth feeling as fresh as the mint flavours, but then that's just my personal opinion. The gum comes in a handy envelope shaped box and contains 14 little rectangular shaped tabs each of which are individually and daintily wrapped. The box is easy to open by means of a little flap, which is then slotted into a little slit to close, all very prim and proper. I love this box, it's handy and fits nicely into my handbag, perhaps not too popular with males though as it is a little big for a jeans pocket!
Orbit Complete contains Xylitol, which I have recently found out can be really quite a healthy little additive! Originally from Finland Xylitol is a sugar alcohol, which can be found in fruit, vegetables, berries, corn, oats and mushrooms. Xylitol has approximately two thirds of the calories that normal sugar has and unlike some sweeteners leaves no aftertaste in your mouth. Xylitol can be used safely for diabetics as blood sugar levels are not as affected by this as when eating sugars. It has been proven to reduce plaque build up on your teeth and amazingly it has been proven to help reduce a deterioration in bone density, although I don't really think that chewing a few pieces of gum a day would necessarily help someone with osteoporosis, but then who knows what the future holds? Chewing gum and the constant swallowing reflex also helps break up and reduce a build up of earwax in the middle ear and that amazing Xylitol again helps to prevent a build up of bacteria within the array of tubes connecting the ear, nose and throat.
The gum itself is really tasty and I find that 1 tab is certainly enough for me at one time, all too often 2 pieces of gum are required as they are either too small or the flavour does not last very long. Orbit Complete, however, has a flavour that seems to last for ages. I often find that one piece will last me for up to an hour before I get that awful feeling that I'm chewing a tasteless lump of rubber. The spearmint flavour is really pleasant, with a nice sweetness to it and a mintiness that isn't too sharp and unpleasant. I love the feeling in my mouth after chewing my gum, my teeth feel smooth and clean and my mouth feels fresh. Another added benefit of keeping my Orbit Complete in my handbag is the fact that my bag always smells lovely and fresh too!
Orbit Complete is suitable for vegetarians and is recognised by the World Dental Federation. It does contain a source of Phenylalanine, which if consumed in excess can have a laxative effect.
One packet of this gum costs between 45p and 56p depending on the flavour and where you buy it and it is also available in a multipack of 3 boxes, which costs between £1.05 and £1.45 again depending on flavour and where you buy it. I personally prefer to buy the multipack as it is cheaper in the long run and the 3 packets last me a week so it also saves me having to run back and forward to the shops!
I would definitely recommend keeping a packet of this gum handy as it tastes really good, the flavour last for a long time, it leaves your mouth feeling clean and tasting fresh and it also keeps your handbag smelling fresh too!
I'm currently chewing Wrigley's Orbit Complete Spearmint Sugar free Gum, so what better time to write a review on the product. This is by far my favourite gum of all time!! The gum as Xylitol for healthier teeth, which helps reduce plaque.
I love how clean and fresh it leaves my mouth and teeth after chewing, the taste is pleasant and not too over powering, unlike many other spearmint gums out there, they have the balance just right. The taste is long lasting and I find I can chew for at least a few hours or so. The gum comes in two different flavours, the blue box is the peppermint flavour and the green box is the spearmint flavour.
A packet contains 14 tabs of chewing gum which I paid 59p for, although you can get packs of 3 from the supermarket for around £1.47. On the packaging it states that Orbit Complete is recognised by the fdi (fdi World Dental Federation) and is often recommended by dentists.
The only downside for me is that the gum doesn't keep it's freshness for very long after opening the packet, each tab of chewing gum is wrapped in it's original wrapper but I've still found after opening the original packaging the gum after a certain time will go slimy, soggy and definitely unchewable!!
The goods do definitely outweigh the bad as you can see above.
I am a chewing gum addict, literally. I always seem to be chewing gum (which may be the reason I have perfect teeth and no fillings ?) I love most kinds of chewing gum that are mint, spearmint, peppermint etc..Extra use to be my favourite but i have noticed lately there taste goes away far too quickly unlike Orbit Complete.
Orbit Complete is a fantastic chewing gum, it is fresh, tasty and helps clean your teeth thanks to Xylitol. Its a great thing to chew after eating or whenever during the day. Also it comes in different flavours, the three most popular being Spearmint, Peppermint and Strongmint although you also get strawberry and lemon and lime (which are both surprisingly rather fine and different)
How To Purchase
They can be bought in seperate packs containing 14 tabs or in packs of 3 (which is what i usulally buy them in) for a single pack in ASDA you are roughly 39p and for a 3 pack its £1.47
If your a fan of chewing gum like me i recommend you to give Orbit Complete a try. Its great as its cheap and fine. Also helps protect against the build up of plaque which is great if your concious about your oral health.
My Summary: A great chewing gum thats well worth a chew !! (sorry for the bad joke, gave me a chuckle)
Wrigley's new addition to their chewing gum range is their new Orbit Complete which they boast contains Xylitol. Xylitol works in a similar way to mouthwash helping fight plague and aid in maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
I must admit that it wasn't until my dentist recommended it to me and I had given it a go that I realised just what a handy product it is to have and carry on you. When eaten after meals or snacks your teeth definitely feel cleaner and your mouth much fresher. It has quite a pleasant taste not too strong like some other competitors on the market...it's instantly refreshing.
The chewing gum comes in the two standard colours blue for peppermint and green for spearmint. Each box contains within it 14 tabs of sugerfree gum, each individually wrapped for hygiene and simplicity. On the box I must also comment on the fact it has been endorsed by the FDI; The World Dental Federation declaring this gum has been "proven to benefit dental health".
With so many good points it's hard to find a fault with it...but there is a fault. No matter how many boxes I've tried and tested I've always found that if the tabs are not consumed within about three days of opening the main box they become very gooey, slimey and sticky...yuck! Therefore I found I was wasting the last few because I didn't have time to use them.
Overall this is a very good product and the benefits easily outweigh the faults especially in terms of keeping your breath fresh and teeth and gums healthy. Just make sure you don't leave them lying around for longer than necessary!
Wrigley's Orbit Complete Pepermint Whitening Sugar Free chewing gum. Healthy, clean and fresh (with Xylitol). Made by Wrigley's Quantity per pack:14 tabs per pack
