I love summer and try and make the most of it. One of my favourite things to do is get out the BBQ, have a few friends round and for added entertainment get the pool out. The one I have is the Bestway Splash and Play Rectangular Family Pool which I got at a cut throat price of £14.99 from Wilkinsons (I have seen it on various website ranging from £15-£30).

When you receive the pool in comes in a box with a small plastic carry handle. Keep the box as it is good for storage and taking to other people's houses.

The pool itself is made of different shades of blue around the base and inside. I love the blue colour as it gives the impression of exotic oceans. There is a white trim around the top. This white trim has been well designed as I remains cool under hot temperatures.

The pool is a very good size at 269cm long x 175cm wide x 51cm high. This easily fits 4 adults chilling in each corner. We once had eight of us in but that's another story. Although the fact the pool did not brake proves how sturdy and robust it is. At the base of the pool there is a plug the is easy to remove and instantly allows the water to gush out.

Annoyingly the pool did not come with a pump and took me over an hour to inflate by mouth. There are too ring walls that need inflating and they need an awful lot of lung work. After that first time I used it I bought a foot pump and it now takes me around 5 minutes to inflate.

For £15 this is an absolute bargain for what I consider a summer necessity. It has proven strong and tough throughout numerous traumatic parties yet remains it complete working condition. Roll on this summer!
