The ESL9198DLX has a passive Peripheral Component Interface (PCI) backplane for future technology upgrades such as embedded fiber and Network Attached Storage (NAS) capabilities, RAIT and drive mirroring. It is multi-unit scalable up to five units, and can be scaled with the ESL9326D, ESL9326DX and additional ESL9198 libraries. (ESL9198 has reduced slot availability in scaled configuration, 192 slots when connected to one other library and 168 slots when connected to two libraries.) The ESL9198DLX is qualified with Windows 2000 and Windows NT, NetWare, Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS, as well as Compaq ProLiant and AlphaServer product lines. The Compaq StorageWorks ESL9198DLX is supported under Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq Tape Storage Management Console (TSMC).
