Fujitsu Siemens MTC PXT8-MC81 ... (typically up to 12 MB/s with compression) and uses a DLT-specific half-inch cartridge with a capacity of 40 GB (typically 80 GB with compression). It provides cost-effective data storage, mainly for transferring data from hard disk to magnetic tape (data backup, archive). The PXT8-MC81 MTC drive is connected to a SCSI controller HVD, PXT8L-MC81 to a SCSI controller LVD. The built-in compression provided with this drive increases the logical capacity of the tape by the compression factor (typically 2). The logical read/write speed is therefore also increased by the same factor. Within the capabilities of the SCSI connection, a self-adapting data buffer controls the data transfer to match the data transfer speed of the host.
