HP Storageworks AIT 50 GB ... 50-GB Advanced Intelligent Tape Drive extends capacity and performance where DAT tape technology ends. AIT is designed to handle the ongoing explosion of data storage requirements. Advanced Metal Evaporated media aids in providing a tape drive that needs minimal cleaning and virtually no head clogging. This drive has a mean time before failure (MTBF) rating of 300,000 hours at a 30 percent duty cycle. If the AIT 50-GB drive is used eight hours a day, seven days a week (33 percent duty cycle), the heads are rated to last over 10 years!
