These enclosures provide customers with scalability, allowing the customer to add drives and migrate to new tape technologies as their capacity and performance needs grow. HP StorageWorks Rack-mount Kits are supported by ProLiant and AlphaServer platforms.

The 1U Rack-Mount Kit holds up to two half-height internal tape drives. This enclosure supports a range of tape technologies, including DAT, DLT VS, and half-height Ultrium, with a maximum capacity of 400 GB per backup session using Ultrium 215 (assuming 2:1data compression). The enclosure can support up to two separate SCSI buses, allowing tape drives to be configured for best performance.
