The foundation of SmartScale Storage, Overland's unique Global Control Module, functions as a single control point between multiple library modules and attached host systems. Designed from the beginning for maximum flexibility, the LXG manages all communications to library robotics and makes possible the creation of custom, multi-module LibraryXpress installations utilizing the most popular data management software applications. Thus a consistent software interface is retained as hardware expands. The Global Control Module provides seamless expansion from a stack of two library modules all the way to nine in an industry-standard six-foot-high rack. What's more, the unique integrated XpressChannel moves tapes efficiently from module to module, allowing any tape cartridge to be moved to any available drive in the system, or to any storage slot.
