The benefits of green tea are widely known these days and according to an article I read, "Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits, with some evidence suggesting that regular green tea drinkers may have a lower risk of developing heart disease and certain types of cancer. Although green tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss, a green tea extract containing polyphenols and caffeine has been shown to induce thermogenesis and stimulate fat oxidation, boosting the metabolic rate 4% without increasing the heart rate."
I like to try to drink a cup or two of green tea a day as I like the fact that I am not having milk in it and also I like to think I am getting some health benefits from it too. Also I like the taste and although sometimes I find some green teas a bit heavy I find if it is mixed with a flavour it is often quite light and crisp.
This variety from Tetley is a really nice combination. The mixture of the sweet lemon and the bitterness of the green tea work with each other to cancel out each strong taste so you are just left with a nice refreshing hot drink. Don't get me wrong though, you can definitely taste the lemon in this drink but it is not overly sweet or anything like that. You get a really nice zingy lemon taste which I think makes this a really nice drink to have in the morning with breakfast.
I buy the tea in tea bag form and I guess it depends on how you take your tea but I don't like mine too strong so after I have added hot water I only leave the tea bag in for a couple of seconds so I get a nice light coloured tea and then its not too dark and heavy. I don't add milk because I think that would just taste weird.
According to Tetley they pick their green tea leaves from the sloping plantations of Asia and they are 100% natural. All they do to them is pick them, cut and dry them and enhance them with a burst of lemon. The leaves and the tea always taste very fresh to me and I have never had a bad cup from Tetley. A nice variety of green tea!
