      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I don't usually like blackcurrant, it is too bitter for the flavour to come through or too highly sweetened when used an an ingredient. I loathe honey. The smell makes me heave and the taste makes me pull faces. So why would I entitle this opinion so? Simple. For some reason unbeknownst to me, twinings have managed to produce an absolutely delicious, refreshing fruit tea without the yukky bitterness usually associated with blackcurrants. I tend to like my hot drinks slightly sweetened but there is something so wholesome about this drink that dictates we should not sully the healthy nature by adding refined sugar. Honey, once melted into a nice, well steeped cup of blackcurrant tea, will sort out the slight oversharpness of the flavour and tastes absolutely heavenly. At this time of year I start to get a bit of hayfever. Honey helps to sort out the symptoms naturally for me but I loathe the taste. With the combination of this tea I can refresh myself and control my hayfever all in one delicious cup. I can heartily recommend this product. It is equally delicious cold, on its own or added to a fruit punch.

I am a big fan of blackcurrent as a flavouring, it has a strong fruity flavour but it isn't too sweet. If you habitually drink Ribenna, you may be attracted to blackcurrent fruit teas, and then surprised by how they taste, because they tase exactly like Ribenna without all the added sweeteners. Fruits are not meant to be sugery, they combine bitterness and sweetenss in varying proportions. Fruit teas are much the same. If you want a blackcurrent flavoured drink that isn't gonig to rot your teeth, give Twinnings tea a go - you may need a while to get used to the absence of sugagry stuff, but the taste is great and its better for your teeth.

Character: This fruit which traditionally favours cold climates is a particularly aromatic one, each part of which - leaves, stalk buds and the fruits themselves - contributes its own flavour and perfume. How and when to serve: Brew as you would one of Twinings Classic teas and enjoy at any time of the day, either hot or iced to suit the occasion.
