Advantages: Low calorie
Disadvantages: No taste
Although I prefer to drink coffee, I am trying to cut down and as I don't normally drink ordinary tea I have a variety of herbal and fruit ones in stock. One that I had not tried for a long time was peppermint, but when I saw them reduced in the Co-op I decided to try them again.
I have to say they are not one that I will use again. I love mint when it comes to food flavouring, Polo mints and mint chocolate but this was different. I can't really taste what I recognise as mint in them and the taste that is there is not very pleasant. I am not sure how good it is helping with digestion but I would not rely on them for that purpose.
The first time I used it I had been out all day and was a bit cranky so thought I might have let my mood dictate my view. So I left it a couple of days and then when I wanted a drink before bed a few days ago I decided to give them another try.
I made the drink and settled down with it. The smell was not good, but there was a slight whiff of mint. The taste however was just as bad as previously. Not minty and not nice. This really is the last time I will try it as it just can't compare to lemon, apple or mango.
One good thing is that the tea is low calorie with just 2 calories a cup and there is very little salt or sugar in it. It is recommended that the bag is left to brew for 2 to 3 minutes but even leaving it just over three did not give a stronger taste.
In future I think that if I want a minty drink I will just use real mint and add to loose tea.
I purchased this reduced and paid £1.50 for 20 bags as there was only a week left before their sell by date. The rest have been thrown out now and I won't be buying them again.
To get an accurate price I have just looked at Amazon and they are selling them for £2.05.
Summary: Not something I will be buying again.
