      turkish apple tea by Whittard

I am a big fan of the Whittard tea company and for Christmas I got a lovely set of fruit teas. Ever since going on holiday to Turkey years ago, I have always loved Turkish Apple tea and so to get hold of it over here is amazing. Whittard always make such great flavours of tea and are a brand that I trust a lot, that is why when I saw this in the set I was really pleased. The thing I love most about Turkish Apple tea is that it can be taken hot or cold so it goes a long way and is worth the money for definite.

      PACKAGING

This tea comes in a big cylindrical tub with a plastic lid and on the front has the Whittard logo and then around the body has a pretty green pattern which makes it stand out. The tub says that it is a flavoured instant tea then on the side are a list of the ingredients and it also tells you how to make this tea. The tub holds 475g of tea which is a lot of tea and you should have this last you quite a good while unless you are drinking it daily and a lot of it. It is an eye catching tub that stands out on the shelf very boldly.

      TURKISH APPLE

When opening the tub, it smells very sweet and very fruity which is nice and to look at the tea is a sort of golden grain and it looks just like light brown sugar. The tea feels really light and it does look different from other fruit tea but I like that it looks really different. To make a cup of this tea is very, very easy and there is not a lot of instruction to follow. You need to add three heaped teaspoons of this mixture into a mug or glass and then add 200ml of water either hot or cold whatever you prefer.

I have tried this tea in both cold and hot and have to say for me, I do prefer it hot as it tastes much better this way but everyone is different. The tea is probably nice colder in the summer but being January it is still quite cold so hotter is a nice option and really accentuates the flavour more. They recommend if having it cold to serve it over ice but it just depends what you like. The tea should be stored in a cool dry place to keep it perfect and not getting damaged, I just keep mine closed in the tub.

This tea has quite a sweet taste at first so it may taste slightly bitter but you soon get used to the sweetness and if you do find it too sweet then just put less granules in next time and it won't be as much. The colour of the tea is that lovely warm golden colour and it does look very nice and is always very hot at first but it goes down easy. It quenches my thirst always and has a lovely taste to it which is refreshing and it just makes me feel a lot more relaxed after having a mug of this.

Most people who like fruit teas will love this Turkish Apple tea, as it is like no other tea and it is versatile in the sense that it tastes lovely hot or cold. It is a nice gift to buy someone who loves their tea and even if you are not a big tea drinker but love fruity drinks then you should give this a try as it might just surprise you. Anyone who has been on holiday to Turkey will find this brings back the memories drinking this and it really is a drink that I can't say a bad word about.

INGRDIENTS: Sugar, Citric Acid, Black Tea Extract, Natural Flavouring

      COST

This tea can be purchased from all Whittard stores or online and a 475g tub will cost you £5.50 but I do find this tends to be in the 2 for £10 offer in stores.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Nice hot or cold

I'm not a big fan of traditional tea and had recently been experimenting with Twinings herbal teas when I stumbled into Whittards and came across this product. Its not a herbal tea as such, but more a fruit flavoured drink which contains sugars and tea, but does not have the flavour of traditional tea, thankfully for me.

A 400g tub will cost £6 but there are always offers on, currently buy any 3 tubs for £13. The tubs are quite big and chunky and will last a while.

To drink, you simply add 3 heaped teaspoons to hot water for a delicious hot drink or add to cold water and serve with ice for a refreshing summer drink. One tub using these measurements will give roughly 25 servings.

The taste test. My first impression was this drink was very very sweet, and I have a sweet tooth. It did have delicious apple flavours which are meant to resemble traditional Turkish apple tea, found in Turkey. I've never tried that so can't really compare but it did have an unusual apple taste which was refreshing and would taste lovely in the summer, bit perhaps the sugar made it a little too sweet for me.

It contains Sugar, Citric Acid, Black Tea Extract, Natural Flavouring.

If you want a natural herbal drink I would suggest trying their herbal fruit drinks which contains natural ingredients, no sugar and no caffeine but if you want a sweet kick then this is for you.

        Apple Tea

I've probably reviewed more types of tea than anyone else here on dooyoo - white tea, black tea, fruit tea, green tea... you name it, I've written about it. However, all of those teas have come in tea-bag form, and this review represents my first excursion into the world of powdered tea.

Described as "A tangy, full flavoured apple tea drink", Wittard's 'Turkish Apple- Instant Tea' can be purchased for £5.99 for the 500g container.

        Brewing Instructions
        - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Making the tea is easy - simply add three teaspoons of the apple powder per cup and stir well. It is said that the 500g tub contains twenty-five servings - but this obviously depends on how strong you want your beverage.

        Ingredients
        - - - - - - - -
It's always nice to see a product with a limited list of ingredients, and this is certainly the case with this tea; Sugar, Citric Acid, Black Tea Extract, and Natural Flavouring

        Taste
        - - - -
The flavour of the tea is incredibly appley, very tangy, and a lot more flavoursome than any tea which is brewed in tea bag form. If there is a disadvantage to the taste, it would be that fact that it is perhaps too sweet - but that's a problem that can easily be rectified by adding a little less of the tea powder than the recommended two teaspoons.

If you taste the actual tea powder, it tastes a lot like sherbet, and I have to restrain myself from eating it all before it even makes contact with water!

You can drink any of Wittard's instant teas hot or gold, and this Turkish Apple variety makes for a refreshing summery drink on a hot day if you choose not to heat it - that said, I generally prefer the flavour in hot form.

        Final Word
        - - - - - - - -
Wittard's Turkish Apple Instant tea is a really delicious, and whilst lacking the subtle flavours of tea bag based tea, it will give you a tangy blast of apple which is really quite delicious - recommended.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Something to drink occasionally.

This apple tea is made in the Turkish style, but don't be fooled, most Turks don't drink their tea this way. Turkish tea is traditionally a very strong black tea, apparently the Apple tea is really only popular with tourists and the locals don't drink it. THat being said, the Turkish Apple tea is delicious.

It's actually more of a hot juice or other drink than a tea since there are no leaves in the brew. Instead you take several spoonfuls of a sugary, golden looking substance and stir it into boiling water to make your drink. I suspect that in fact this is probably about 98% sugar.

When you add the hot water you do get a strong and immediate apple aroma - more like the clear bottled apple juice smell than actual apples, and a bit sweeter. The taste of the tea is much the same - appley, and very sweet. The tea is served very strong and usually in small tea glasses. Trust me you wouldn't want to drink a full mug of this at full strength - it's so strong when made correctly. The liquid is a deep golden colour but remains translucent. It is definitely a nice treat or small pick me up but not something that you'll probably be wanting to drink all day or every day.

If you are a fruit tea sceptic, try this and you will be so surprised. it is full of flavour, really delicious hot or cold. It is easy to make and dissolves quickly leaving no residue. No tea bags, no lines on your cup. Marvellous. Highly recommended change from the other fruit teas when you are caffeined up in the office all day.

Our original Instant Tea! Turkish Apple is a tangy, full flavoured apple tea drink which can be prepared hot or cold. Have it hot and it tastes exactly the same as Turkish apple tea served in Turkey.
