Advantages: Price, Service & support
Disadvantages: None
I have been an O2 broadband user for a year now and have been very impressed so far. The main reasons I decided to go with O2 was price, service and importantly free phone helpline.
Having had problems in the past and needing to phone the provider for support I found nothing more frustrating than being kept on hold and paying for it. So to have a provider which offers a good service at a good cost was a big plus.
It seems pointless discussing speeds that I receive as this is highly dependent on your location to the exchange. I dont get the Upto 8Mbps! but more like 3.2Mbps with an upload speed which is 0.7-1Mbps. I have not experienced any major drop offs and given Im on the internet with work pretty much all day I would notice any problems. Sometime I do get a slow down during certain peak times but even then it only tends to be for a few minutes.
The basic broadband package offers upto 8Mbps and is £7.34 a month as I have an O2 mobile. Every month I get a text message confirming the payment is being taken out and I also get it on e-mail as well. I have no experience on the higher 20Mbps option.
O2 provide a wireless box which is a similar shape to the netgear router, only slightly bigger and not so rounded at the edges. One advantage is it does have an on/off button on the back for those who switch the router off at the end of the day. As for configuration having experience in configuring several routers I have to say the O2 one was the easiest, I simply connected it up and followed some simple on screen prompts and within 2-3minutes I was online. I believe its made quicker as some security settings come with the box so no need to manually configure and the software handles all the connections.
Summary: If you want a good priced reliable provider, with support to back this up then O2 comes recommended
