4U.net Telecommunications Service

Newest Review: ... system. I signed up during March and paid my 20-00 and was chuffed with my buy. Until I tried to use it that was!! Initially the connectibility of the service was very very bad. It was a bit like X-Stream but not quite as bad, a present day equivalent would b LibertySurf as you had to leave it dialling up for ages due to constant engaged tones. To be fair to 4u, the connectability improved after a while but it was still nowhere near first time connections which sort of went against the promises that they made. However as has been happening recently with free call ISP's, 4UNet decided to shut their ISP service down in September o... more

There was a cloud of publicity when 4uNet came out offering you free internet access for just £19-99 which included the price of the dialer as signing for 4u meant that you had to go through their telephone system. I have been with 4unet for a few months and what can I say, an absolute pile of rubbish! To be fair I received the box quite quickly but that is the only good thing I can say about them. When trying to connect to the internet with them I saw a different side to my personality - I became a monster!!!!!! I was lucky to be connected after 16 attempts! And they would give you these annoying messages "Check that your modem is connected to the telephone box" (something like that)and "there is no answer" and "the server is not responding". The other annoying thing was sometimes when I started dialling a number ...  Read the complete review

4U.net: Free? here is the catch... (360 words)

A few months ago 4unet were advertising extensively on TV and they sounded good, perhaps too good to be true. 30% off calls? great! 0800 access all the time? wicked! free sevice? go for it! So we went for it. First there was the wait until the little connection box arrived. Then there were the problems activating the account, with the email sent to technical support completely ignored (of course, if they can charge for telehpone support, why provide free email support?). The £20 off phone bills turned out to be 4 vouchers of £5 for each monthly phone bill, but 4 months on, we are yet to receive the first bill. When we enquired on the matter of bills they ...  Read the complete review

4 Unet - the free bubble finally burst (191 words)

I subscribed to 4unet in May, lured by the totally free internet access. The deal was that you bought a box for £20 to divert your calls through them and all your internet calls were free, plus you got your £20 back in vouchers against your phone bill. I've had a few problems with connection and downloads but thought it was a small price to pay for the free calls. Worryingly though, I've yet to get a bill from them! Then I received an e-mail to say that from September they are terminating the free service. So now they aim to charge 1p per minute off peak and 2p at all other times. Now I guess it's better than 4p per minute during the ...  Read the complete review

I signed up to 4unet months and months ago and, if you enjoy sitting at your computer for hours trying to connect then this is the service for you. I signed up to have a monthly phone bill but, as yet have never had one, how I will be expected to pay for it now I really don't know. I am waiting to hear from NTL as I have heard they are a good provider. It's no wonder 4unet are going to start charging in September if they haven't charged anyone yet. I think that when they do start charging they will go out of business totally. Very hard to connect to which can be extremely annoying. Slow downloads. Cut you ...  Read the complete review
