Very poor overall service (AOL)

Disadvantages: Slow line speed, call centres in foregin country.

Initially (Sept 06) good line speed at all times, unlimited usage and no fair usage policy. July 07 - line speed capped from 4mbps to 1mbps (told by AOL that I had exceeded my monthly usage limit). I was never informed a fair usage policy was now being employed. November 07 - asked for a MAC code after consistent slow speeds at peak times. Tech support agent was foreign, hard to understand, abrupt and had very poor technical knowledge. MAC code never arrived, but speeds suddenly returned to normal. January 16th 2008 - again asked for MAC code after very poor speeds at peak times since before Christmas (500kbps on average). Categorically told it would take upto 48hrs (by 3 separate foreign agents). More than 48hrs later, it still hadn't arrived. Called again today (18th Jan) and was told it would take upto 5 days! AOL has very slow line speeds at peak times, very poor and hard to understand customer service, and non-existent technical support. AVOID!! Overall 2/10
