Advantages: Easy broadband provider

Disadvantages: slightly pricey

I have been an AOL customer since the year dot and I have enjoyed the service which they provide.
I started with dial-up, which was, as I now know, as fast as a snail on sleeping tablets, then I moved onto broadband, from AOL 4 through to AOL 9 and now AOL VR.
I have had a few problems with the service but there are problems with every ISP. The problems have been minor, such as slow surfing and the occasional disconnection, but with AOL's on-line live help, where you can chat live with a member of the AOL team, these few minor problems have been sorted.
Setting up is as easy as putting on your shoes, just slip in the CD then follow the simple instructions and before too long you'll be surfing the world wide web with a trusted companion.
Once your AOL account is active you can use the many benefits which the service provides, such as the on-line live help, message boards, several e-mail addresses, chat rooms, blogs, picture sharing and much much more.
AOL also throw in a spy ware checker, a computer check up program and one click fixes to keep your PC in peak condition.
With AOL 9 you are give McAfee personal firewall which will protect your PC from unwanted intruders.
For a little extra per month they offer a security suite to help protect your PC even more.
The on-line live help is a quick, easy way to contact AOL and ask them questions about anything regarding your AOL service, i have always used this contact method as I am not a fan of using the telephone. To use live help is simple and less frustrating, just type in 'live help and follow the keyword route...then click through the instructions and there you go.....simplicity.
You can customise the appearance of your AOL account, from the look and design to the voice which welcomes you and informs you that you have mail...you just have to spend a little time clicking around the AOL homepage.
I do realise that AOL may be seen as a little expensive in comparison to some other ISP but what you receive for the monthly payments make up for the few extra pennies.
The AOL homepage is well presented and is easy to navigate as everything is plainly in view, there is so much information to see on this page that it would take a few weeks to go through everything on it, (and as it updates quicker than a rat up a drainpipe there is always something new to learn).

I know that a lot of people have complained about the service they have had with AOL but in my opinion I can not understand what people have to complain about.
I have never had any serious problems with the service, but when I have had questions to ask then I have been given a clear and sufficient answer from an experienced member of AOL staff.
I can not fault the service I have so far received.
I have tried other ISP when using other PC's and have found that most are inadequate and unhelpful when asked to deal with certain problems. There are one or two good providers but as I have not tried these for any significant length of time I can not say really how good they are.

Summary: A good ISP with a great on-line live help

I think AOL must have improved a lot since I tried them!
