AOL - Avoid unless a last resort (AOL)

Advantages: A free router, good internet security

Disadvantages: Terrible customer service

AOL must stand for 'arses over logic' or something other than America Online.

The customer service we had from day one was a nightmare. It took 3 weeks to receive our router, which was supposedly due to the courrier, so I'll let them off with that one.

Eventually I received the router which was a nightmare to set up, ended up needing my own router of which AOL made it intentionally difficult to provide me with the information needed to use my own router.

The service itself was OK, nothing special but then again, I didn't have any complaints apart from slow speeds, which was supossedly due to the exchange.

I finally got a good deal with o2 broadband which is when the fun started, I don't think AOL actually understand that customers come and GO. They tried endlessly to tie me into all sorts of contracts, and rudely hung up in the end.

Now I'm with o2, for half the price and double the speed!

Summary: Basic broadband provider but bad service if you encounter any issues
