Advantages: It'll be a good exercise in patience

Disadvantages: Everything else not covered by Advantages

Be warned - being with AOL can really mess with your mind. They block ports, which can be a pain in the butt when you are trying to configure things - like email clients. This is triplely painful if you are not technical as it is totally silent. The clients just won't work, and they won't tell you why. You are just supposed to know that you must configure them in non-standard ways.

More importantly, I am convinced that AOL do not really care about their customers. I had a Broadband connection with them which I cancelled over a year ago, and they are still taking money from me. It makes we laugh when I think about it. Every couple of months I notice on my statement that they are taking some money, and so I phone their premium rated support service, and after some expense of time and money on my part, they finally seem to have got the point. They do credit my money back to me, but then seem to forget to stop the direct debit, so the whole thing repeats itself. I've had to ask the credit card company to pursue them for the money, because their customer support is obviously a waste of space. They even hung up on me last time. So I thought I'd write them a complaint - but look on the internet they don't even have an email address for complaints. They expect me to write to the same address where my cancellation notice was sent. LOL. That did a fat lot of good.

I'd be upset, but it is quite evident that the market place will bring a slow form of justice, that word of mouth will get around and at some point AOL will go bust. I wonder if poor customer service has anything to do with AOL Inc. being down 15% yesterday - on the NYSE?

This should have 0 stars, but the site does not allow it.

Summary: Try a ouija board it'll be quicker, and more reliable
