Before Broadband I used the AOL dial up service which was 14.99 a month and gave you unlimited access to there services. A number of years ago AOL were my preferred dial up service of choice yes there were a few pounds more expensive than other unlimited providers but you had the added extra of a free technical support line and British call ... The worst broadband I have every had. Its been nothing but problems and the support staff don't seem to care and just keep going over the same things and then say to call back another day. And worst off if I do get somewhere with the 10 odd transfers though the support services they don't pass information on so you have to go though everything ... Read the complete review

AOL to me is a nightmare because of two things the customer service and the internet speed. The speed: is very slow compared to other network providers if you buy AOL 2Mb package for around £20 you could really buy Virgin package which is much more faster which is 8Mb so for its money it is not worth it and in some way rips you ... We have been with AOL for about 6 years and the service we got from them was excellent and faultless, that was, until I decided to leave them! I can honestly say that the internet they provided was uninteruptly, I was rarely disconnected and the speed was good, even during peak times. It came to the point, about 12 months ago, when it ... I have been with AOL for a long time now and previously had no problems with them at all until about a year ago. Firstly i was offered an upgrade to 8 mbps if i stayed with them a further 18 months so i said yes as at the time i was happy with them. Since then i have not received the upgrade but am still tied into my 18 months contract which ... Read the complete review

basically a crap provider unable to understand customer service staff, who are abusive and unhelpful, line managers as well.
Would not touch aol if they were that last broadband provider on earth would rather do without than use them.
Steer clear they are set of liars.

When i remember AOL or think of them I think why on earth was I with them for? Aol is a Internet Service provider which at one time was the best one to use and most popular. Aol has ever since then gone down hill because of their high prices and their very poor service. Aols call centre team are based in India which means when calling up Aol you ... I have been with AOL for just over a year and in that time I have had to contact them on a regular basis at least once a month sometimes more, because of disconection, poor speeds sorry very poor speeds, and when I moved it was disasterous they compleatly messed up, in the end I have had so many credits and now with six months of contravt left they have released me form their contrat without penalty. It has been a fight and I cannot recomend AOL at all, poor service all round and no back up what so ever......avoid!!!!

We first signed up with AOL about four years ago. The main reason we picked them, was at the time it was one of the most popular internet providers we knew, so we thought big name must mean good service. We started off with dial up. Neither of us very tech minded, it seemed the simplest thing for us. I think it took almost a month ... Read the complete review

AOL must stand for 'arses over logic' or something other than America Online. The customer service we had from day one was a nightmare. It took 3 weeks to receive our router, which was supposedly due to the courrier, so I'll let them off with that one. Eventually I received the router which was a nightmare to set up, ended up ... I have been with Aol for years and have always found them to be good. I have my calls with them too as I found this to be a good price. I was going to transfer to orange but when i phoned them and explained that i wasn't happy I was offered a cheaper rate which i found great so I ended up staying with them. I currently pay £17.99 per month for my ... Read the complete review

They attract you in with low prices and then they just forget about you! We wanted a no contract service as we are moving in a couple of months, so we chose AOL. The order line lady was very nice and helpful, but after placing the order it all went downhill. We placed the order over a month ago and still no broadband and no modem. We have had to chase them up every step of the way, oh and the Indian call centre is a real laugh, if you like repeating yourself and speaking really slowly and getting very frustrated! Anyone that asks me about AOL will be warned off, what a waste of time!

I have been with aol since december 07 and from the start have had lots and lots of trouble. The problem started with my download speed of around 0.05 to o.8mb insteat of the up to 8mb. So after a few days i decided to ring up and spent most of my time on hold , so much so that after 2 weeks on the phone to them i had to stop as i couldnt ... Read the complete review

I've been with AOL for about 4 years now and I've had enough. I've just received my MAC code from AOL it'll be a relief to get rid of them, the line used to be reasonably reliable, since selling AOL UK to Carphone Warehouse my internet keeps disconnecting and I've gone from 2.7MB/s to 1.5MB/s at peak times its only ... I have been an AOL customer since the year dot and I have enjoyed the service which they provide.
