I've been with AOL now for 7 years and must say that I have no plans to change my internet provider either. With its easy to use layout (that's the first big plus point in my opinion) and straight forward basic features, lets you cut some of the stress out whilst using the online AOL service. As a AOL member you will receive 7 screen ... Read the complete review

Through all the criticisms I've read of AOL, I've been with them 7 years. Yes, in the early days of dial-up, and then broadband, the connection could be a little flaky (as with many other ISPs). But in the last 3-4 years I can only recall only one dropped connection (lasting all of five minutes), and the connection speed (as indicated by ADSL ... Read the complete review

terrible customer service - Advantages: it works most of the time, 'dumbed-down' (if that's your thing), freephone customer line - Disadvantages: they keep you in queue for ages, deal with problems unprofessionally, rude customer service assistants

I?ve been using AOL as my Internet service provider for about four years now in its various incarnations and on the whole I like it (I?d be a bit stupid to have stuck with them so long if I didn?t), so I was full of anticipation when the newest version of their software landed on my doormat the other day. ... AOL frequently upgrade their versions which is an encouraging thing for their millions of customers. AOL was not my first Internet Service Privider but they are the company i have chosen to stick with - having been a customer for five years at present. There are a large range of features available with AOL,a few of which are up to seven ... Read the complete review

Having used AOL 7.0 for almost a year I did the logical thing and upgraded to AOL 8.0. Having since also installed the version on my Sisters PC I can write from both the upgrade and first time installation angles. The actual installation of the new software was easy and painless. Running the installation is automatic and starts once the ... Read the complete review

Broadband warning Look before you leap When ISP companies started bringing out DIY kits for broadband and the need to have an engineer was a thing of the past, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and invest in this super duper internet feast. As I was already a member with AOL I thought I would give their ... Read the complete review

I did the two months free of AOL, I ended up choosing another company. When I called to cancel my AOL before my free months time was up the person on the phone was very pushy and wouldn't cancel my service. He gave me two months free, with a catch, that required me to go their stupid rewards center to claim in. Which he didn't tell me ... Read the complete review

I tried AOL largely by default as I wanted unmetered internet access, and they were at the time the only one who would accept my Electron card. Fair enough I though, I've heard the horror stories but how bad can they be? Very. The problems started with the installation, there was no option to manually configure a connection, you are ... I took my first tentative steps on the Internet the night that Princess Diana died in France. Free Trial - I wouldn't bother! We took out the free 100 hour trial - brilliant I thought free internet access. Service wasn't too bad but has any one else noticed how long it actually takes to shut the internet down? I really don't think that its necessary to update every single time!! The offers may sound good but if theres only one thing i have to choose that badly lets down AOL it would be their software. Ok, the offer good support, ok prices and plans, but they had to go and spoil all of that by creating their own browser and software, which to put it mildly is bugged! The program crashes frequently, meaning a ... Read the complete review

Just recently I changed my telephone company from World Online back to BT. This meant that I had to quickly find myself another free ISP. In the meantime, I started to use Cheapnet (one of my other ISP`s) and was getting charged at the regular 1p a minute off peak and of course higher at peak times when I was online. With BT, as a `new customer` I ... Read the complete review

I have been using AOL for around 5 years, ever since we first connected to the Internet, and I didn't mind it at first (mainly as I thought all ISPs were like this). Then on a visit to a friends, I realised that AOL was the only ISP who used it's own software, and from that date on I found AOL to be a very silly idea in general. AOL then ...
