I'd bet most people in the UK have seen the annoying aol adverts. Connie, a computer generated woman by the looks of things, tries her best to convince you aol is the ISP ( internet servive provider ) of choice. Should you listen though? Should you hand over your hard earned money to connie? You can't talk about aol without ... Read the complete review

I joined Aol in 1997, yes thats right the old days lol, and thought wow isnt this colourful! Obviously i knew absolutely nothing about isp's then (im not really claiming to know more now mind) so I thought it was good. When you sign on there's a welcome page with news and entertainment and some chat links. I must say ... Read the complete review

I have been an AOL user since I first connected to the Internet three years ago and have been pretty loyal since. AOL is good for a number of reasons. From a general point of view AOL has its own content and much of it is useful for information in itself. The chat rooms and Instant Message technology are excellent. From a parents point of ... We chose AOL as we had it recommended and were told if we went on with them then we would be able to speak to a lot of our friends and family who were already on with them and okay I admit it a family member could also get £30 if they recommended us and we stayed on for 60 days. Well we have been on for years now and would not change to ... Read the complete review

Had a break from writing opinions for a few days, so if I start to ramble then please bare with me. Back to the subject of my opinion, "AOL Internet Service Provider." ISP (Internet Services Providers) all compete against each other, to get more people online through them and make more profit. Each provider offering different features, ... Read the complete review

I tried the AOL free offer and boy did I rue the day I contaminated my machine with their spawn of Satan software. For balance I'll list both the pros and cons I found with AOL. Advantages: The CD looks quite nice. Disadvantages: If I tried logging on (especially between 1700 and 2200) I was lucky to stay connected for more than a ... Read the complete review

Right before I start slagging AOL off lets list the plus points of their software (the few plus points) Plus Points ~~~~~~~~ AOL is the largest ISP in the UK (although I imagine if most people knew it stood for America On-Line, that number would decrease). AOL Messenger is probably the only reason to put this software on ... Read the complete review

AOL 7.0, which I now have, is much better than previous versions. I recently rejoined AOL after leaving a few years ago on very unfavourable terms. Howver, I was pleased with improvements that have been made. The interface browser is good, and a connection is always available, if not at the first attempted number. Connection speeds as good with my ... Read the complete review

I've been with AOL for around a year now yet my will is still my own. Part of AOL Time Warner, this ISP often seems like an evil empire in the making, controlling information across the globe. At £14.99 a month it's not the cheapest of ISPs, but it may well be the best known. However it sometimes seems to be a victim of ... Read the complete review

In my honest opinion, America Online is the number one Internet Service Provider at this point in time. This title changes frequently, AOL used to rule the market but was then overtaken by BT, who led the way for the best part of two years. Now though, AOL is back on top with arguably the best package available and I have recently returned to use ... Read the complete review

AOL is not just some internet service provider. One pays more for the AOL service to get their content. I tried their service and found the content is no different then what one might find on the web for free. In fact it is often less creditable because it is hard to find the orginal source of the content. AOL does offer personalization of ... Read the complete review

Okay I've been using AOL for around 5 years now ever since I first got onto the web at home. I used to be very happy with AOL but I am only able to put this on site today because I happen also to have NTLworld. I am writing this as a warning to those of you who use AOL. There seems to be a fundamental flaw in their security procedures. I have come across the same problem twice in three months and felt compelled to share it with ... Read the complete review

Recommend AOL or even speak of them and you always get a mixed reaction. I have been an AOL user twice in the last 2 years and this second time I have actually stuck with them. When I first joined AOL I thought it was the bee's knees. Most of my friends were part of AOL, and they were quite impressed with the service. When I got my free trial pack I was given 15 hours of free internet use (all of which I used within 3 days!). That sounds so pathetic, 15 hours, especially since they offer 100 hour trials nowadays, ... Read the complete review

Yes they may be the largest and most succesful ISP in the world or what ever but they did that by taking your money with out you knowing. Before I joined Aol, a few of my friends warned me off, pulling faces and offering no specific reasons for their advice. so itook advantage of the free trial, and signed up. AOL has to be one of the worst providers in the UK today. I think at one point the idea was good. Freephone access numbers and a flat rate made it tempting for the novice user. Not to mention the ease of the programme. No dialups to configure. Quite literally, Internet for Dummies. But what good is paying a flat rate if you ... Read the complete review

Can an ISP be too popular? As this is what I think is happening to AOL. I have been with them for a number of years now and of course like them or I would have swopped to another long ago. You either love it, or loathe it, the choice is yours, speaking as an "ex" member of the clan I can only say at first yeah...it had my vote, but!
