i joined AOL because a lot of my friends had it (dialup), and they all said it was good. It was i suppose until we upgraded to broadband. The modem they supply is ok, make sure you update drivers as much as possible, and even then it has trouble 'synching' with the exchange. not sure if this is AOLs fault or jus a bad line, but there are ... If I could sum up this review in a few words, it would be these: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING AOL. I'm writing as a (to put it mildly) very unhappy ex-customer who has just received a letter asking for £31.98, in relation to two months' worth of dial-up Internet that I've never used, not known about and never wanted. They've even set up ... Read the complete review

Ive had many a poor experience with AOL and would urge anyone to serious consider them as their broadband provider. When you are a customer of AOL you are generally paying a premium amount therefore you are expecting a good, quality level of service. There are lots of more competitive broadband packages on the market that offer ... Read the complete review

There are just so many problems I had with Aol in the years I was a member with them. The worst part about them was they would not even give me my Mac code or even stop taking money out of my account when I wanted to leave them! Their call centre staff are some of the most meanest people you can ever speak to! They do not care care at all how they ... Read the complete review

I'm not sure i can put into words quite how unpleasant my experience with AOL has been! We had many long periods for which our home internet didn't work which is extremely annoying, there is never a reasin given for it or a time as to when you'll be abel to reconnect. The internet disconnected regularly and we had no ends of problems. The only ... Read the complete review

Some years back I took out my first broadband contract and I did so with AOL, the reason I used AOL was simply that I had heard of them a lot and assumed they must be good but the fact is I was wrong. My time using AOL was a mixed bag really, for the first few months I was happy but then I had never had broadband before so I knew no ... Read the complete review

AOL provide very high quality broad band but they are expensive and the set up can take a long time. When I was trying to get my modem connected I kept being passed between BT and AOL with nobody willing to take any responsibility. Once the service was set up AOL support was quite good online, but contacting them by phone took forever ... Read the complete review

AOL was the first Internet provider we had at home, from 2001, and we still have it today. Back then it wasn't 'broadband', but dial up, and paqy per minute dial up at that, but I digress. This review is going to be slightly hampered by the fact that we've never had to call up AOL or try and cancel or anything like that, so we don't ... Read the complete review

I joined AOL when the free laptop offer came out. Mainly because a) I wanted a Laptop and b) I wanted wireless broadband. I was with Virgin Media, but they wouldn't offer me wireless on a staff tariff. I simply applied for AOL broadband on the Carphone Warehouse website. It was quick and easy to apply for. All I had to to ... Read the complete review

been with AOL for about 5 years - started off brilliant but just lately they have been very poor. I have had a few probs with my compy so had to call up their helpline (Used to be free now a premium number) talking to a call center in india or ireland is a bit tricky but they usually sort the problem after about 3 calls! The speed is ... Read the complete review

I have been with AOL since the days of dialup. I am currently on the AOL silver package. This is an old package but for £14.99 I get 2 megabit speeds and "unlimited" usage. I live approximately 1km from my phone exchange. On AOL's 2 megabit package, I get 2.1 megabits download speed. This exceeds the speed I am paying for. I ... Read the complete review

AOL may be one of the biggest internet service providers on the planet but they are also THE worst. Not only do they offer very poor value for money with their speeds and costs but they also try to trap you in their greedy claws for life. In order to change internet service provider whilst on a contract with someone you need a thing ... Read the complete review

I've been with AOL now for around seven years. The last four years have all been with their broadband packages. Having used a number of other Broadband providers via work machines and on friends computers too, for me AOL comes out on top in terms of speed, price and all be it a frustrating, but half decent customer ... AOL does offer a good broadband service but it is the software that they install on your computer that gives you a heap of problems. AOL broadband is not exactly an 'always on' broadband connection like others. You have to install AOL software on your PC to log on using either the AOL web browser which is painfully slow and very user ... Read the complete review

In December 2007 I fell into the AOL trap. They have had a reputation for excellent service and great technical support, so I decided that I would take their offer of £9.99 per month, rising to £13.99 after three months broadband contract for a year. At this time there was no 'bribe' available so I accepted the bare package. My first ... Read the complete review

I have had more problems with my internet provider in the last two month that i have in the five years with them. I took the laptop 'bribe' to recommit to AOL but my broadband line, which now seems to have fully migrated to the Carphone Warehouse who bought AOL UK a year ago, is now so slow and creaky that there are barely any net services other than simple web surfing that I can effectively use the laptop for. A relative has been using aol for some years now only getting 512kb down load and paying for the gold package(£25.00 per month,) of which i thought was very expensive. So on her behalf i rang aol to find out why, as other providers do 2mb for 15.99 with phone calls as well. I have had aol for a year now and I was very pleased with the service at all because it was our first broadband/ internet ever.
