Advantages: Download speed, ease of connection, customer service

Disadvantages: None so far

Having cancelled my subscription to Sky television, broadband and telephone services earlier on in the year to help save some money on the monthly bills, getting reconnected to a high speed internet service was a priority for me, such is my reliance on things like the BBC iPlayer and access to high speed downloads from iTunes and similar services.

With a potential house move on the agenda in the next few months, I didn't want to be tied into a service for a long time, and find that I'd have to pay for reconnection fees, transfer fees, administrative fees or any other such nonsense that would make a potential bargain far less cheaper in the long run.

At the same time, I didn't want to compromise on the quality and reliability of my service, or have to reduce my line speed from the 8MB I used to receive from Sky.

What to do?

The traditional broadband providers tend to offer you good deals if you sign up for a minimum 12-18 month contract, or you can pay slightly more for broadband 'on the go' from one of the mobile phone suppliers like O2 or Vodafone. These deals tend to have shorter contract lengths, but offer a far smaller download speed, and are considerably more expensive.

Having scoured the comparison websites and direct from the suppliers themselves, Be Broadband popped up on my radar with the promise of a 3 month cancellation period for their 24Mb service, at a competitive price. Also bundled with the sign up offer at the time was a £40 voucher for GAME, and free connection. Bargain!

So, I signed up, on the promise of being connected within 4 weeks. Less than a week later, I was up and running with their service! Having received their welcome pack in the post and waited for my line to be connected to their service, the installation and set up of my new (and free) wireless router was complete within minutes, and I was enjoying their super fast speeds straight away.

The best thing about Be that I have found has been their unparalleled customer service. Any time that there is a change to your account (e.g. during the set up of the line), they will send you a text and an email to let you know what is going on. Similarly, your monthly bill reminders will be sent to you via the same method. Oh, and you get a free day's usage on your birthday! (Should you have nothing better to do on your birthday than use high speed internet services...)

I can't really fault Be's product or their customer service so far in the 4 months I have been with them. The flexibility of their contract was the reason for signing up in the first place, but at the moment, I can't think of a reason to go elsewhere.

If you're looking for a reliable, friendly broadband provider with excellent customer service, quick download speeds and fast connection times, put Be to the top of your list to investigate.

Summary: I'd never heard of them before, but now I wouldn't look elsewhere for broadband

agree with everything you said. They are a model for how all ISPs should run their business. Pity they mucked up their website !!
