This op has had so many non-rates I've decided to drasticalloy prune it. Bigbluesky offered its customers unmetered 24/7 access for one year for £35. Eventually there were too many customers and BBS pulled the plug on its 0800 dial-up service in June and customers were forced to look eleswhere for an ISP. ... Read the complete review

Today I contacted trading standards as advised in a previous quote, the response I had from them was good for some but not for all. It would appear as previously posted that trading standards have been in contact with Mr Sterling (MD of BBS) following a number of complaints made by the BBS user base. The advice offered ... I haven’t read any of the other reviews for this company, I don’t need to. Most of the positive reviews will be out of date anyhow. My experience alone should be enough to put anyone off, even if one or two people have been lucky enough to get some sort of service from them. When Telnet pulled out of the UK market in ... £25 for life was the original Big Blue Sky offer. it seemed too good to be true and unfortunately it was. The offer price was changed many times until recently they went under with the 0800 service and are launching a new 0845 service. After getting stung by the collapse of connect 25,(also £25 per year!) I used IC Scotland which was excellent untill that offer ended on the 31 May 2001. My optimism got the better of me, so I paid my dues to BBS and thank goodness I did. This service (if it keeps going!) offers extremely good value for money. Getting a ... Read the complete review

Well over the last 10 days things have gone from bad to VERY bad at BBS. Can't get connected at all now, tried for two and a half hours last night with no joy and no answer to the "support line" either (no change there then). Tried this morning at 8:45am - normalyy in first or second time - half an hour later ... Read the complete review

Just over a year ago there was a company offering a years free off-peak surfing for £20. That company was Libertysurf, after a few teething problems the service turned out to be great value for money. It saved me £70 a quarter at least. Now that subscription is coming to a close and £14.99 a month didn't appeal to me in the slightest ... Read the complete review

Update: I suppose it was a gamble, and yes it was all too good to be true. Having failed to contact them by phone, fax or e-mail, I've contacted South Lanarkshire Council and learn that they have been inundated with complaints. I recently signed up with BBS using the online registration. My account was activated immediately and I managed to connect straight away through the 0800 number. Outstanding !! Just a quick warning to anyone who is interested in finding a new ISP. KEEP AWAY FROM BBS NO MATTER HOW TEMPTING THE OFFER MAY SEEM!! UPDATE 26/06/01 BBS is now impossible to connect to except for a few hours in the middle of the night. Fairly obviously now over-subscribed and under-resourced - probably trouble with line hogs too. I have now been using Big Blue Sky around a month now and prior to that i was on BT. The main advantage of BBS compared to BT is that it costs £25 for free access unlimited whereas BT will charge £14.99 a month and every 2 hours you get cut off. However about 25% of the time trying to connect to BBS is a nightmare, I do know that last ... Read the complete review

I have removed this opinion as it is now a long time since I used bigbluesky, in fact as far as I know it doesn't even exist any more, so I'm sure the information I had given is now out of date. As I use Worldonline, I had been waiting to see what they were offering in the way of unmetered access. I had been looking at Eccosetel, but a little reasearch some put a stop to ... Read the complete review

I have found the service to be very useful, it was easy to connect within 5 attempts and the connection was always quick. I really like the idea of not being cut off too. The problem is that over the last week it has become almost impossible to connect. I left my ISDN line dialing for about 20 minutes which is a lot of attempts and I ... Read the complete review

I REALLY took a chance by allowing a £25 debit to my credit card by a company who was not fully up and working by their own admission. Never-the-less, the chance of free Internet access (and no call charges) for LIFE was an amazing temptation. I signed up on 26th February 2001, just a few days before the 'life' option ...
