In a world ruled by complex and ever developing technologies, what communications tools and methods should you choose? How can you be sure that you won't be left behind or baffled by the complexity of it all? Well ,Breathe is a great ISP which offers a full range of services and it met my needs with ease. I wanted affordable internet access and be able to go online when i wanted to. There are so many different options to choose from and it means that however big your checkbook is, you CAN afford internet access. People who breathe can instantly find information, entertainment, products to purchase, services and contacts wherever they happen to be; sitting in front of a monitor, standing in a bar, travelling abroad... or even while skydiving (not recommended)! The services avaliable are second to none and offer real good value for money, and with competition such as freeserve and BT it nice to see that a firm is market orientated not product orientated as so many companies in todays society are. Services include wap, internet access, email centre, free SMS as well as chat. I can relax as my high phones bills are now dramatically smaller than there once were.

Breathe.com, you must all remember the adverts where the boy and girl walked about breathing and affecting every thing around them with there amazingly strong breath! Well don’t worry if you don’t remember it there’s a chance to see it on the web page. (Ya!) They offer 3 different ways to use them as an ISP. breathe unlimited: Subscribe to breathe’s unlimited access package for just £12.99 per month inclusive of VAT, subscription and telephone costs, for un-metered access to the internet day or night. breathe at home: For £8.99, inclusive of VAT, a month, this tariff gives you access to the internet from 4pm to 8am Mon - Fri and all weekend. breathe anywhere: With breathe`s 0845 Internet access. You pay for what you use on a local call rate. Your existing telephone provider will charge all calls. (Tip: Always put ISP numbers that you pay for on your friends and family!) Just to make things clear I have never used Breathe as an ISP (i.e. I have never called up the breathe.com number to access the Internet) but instead I have used their home page, which is great. So I will not comment on what I do not know. But the 3 deals look pretty nice and they seem to be a “nice” company! And I’m going to investigate the “Breathe at home” deal as it sounds great! To use the web page or the ISP you need to register, which is easy and doesn’t take to long, you’ll get an email and other stuff you may never ever use again... But what the hell it’s free! But once you are a member you gain access to something really useful - If like me you have loads of friends with Mobile phones but don’t actually own one (because you hate the swine things), here is a site that lets you send Text Messages for Free. Now I have used this site for SMS for the last 5 months never any troubles. (Every now and then they have to take
it down to upgrade it, but there’s always a warning). But I never explored the rest of the site. Then a few weeks ago I found their on-line games! Their list of games is huge and most of them are great fun. Seriously check them out. They have some old classics and some lesser-known new ones. You may need a little plug-in to play them. But once again FREE!!! There is also online email service, competitions, ring-tones, news, and helpful advice as well. But from those two services alone, this is a great page that I return to every single day! All in all its fantastic, this is a home page the others should learn from! Well done Breathe.com!

I am going to recommend you to use this company, even when little parts of breathe service are not up to standard. I have now been with Breathe ISP for four months and during this time have NEVER had problems connecting to their service. I am impressed with the fact that 100 percent of the time you connect first time, every time. I can honestly say its heaven not to hear the engaged tone, or having the hassle of reconnecting after 30 seconds which was part of internet life with my old ISPs. You can find information at their website which is WWW.BREATHE.COM . They offer three internet access open to BT customers only:- Breathe Anywhere - which is basically 0845 access which is charged by your telephone company at local rate. Breathe at Home - This is the service I use for a set fee of £8.99 including VAT per month which allows me to access the internet:- **All day Saturday and Sunday **1600 to 0800 Monday to Friday. Breathe Unlimited - is their 24/7 service which is £12.99 including VAT per month. PAYMENT ******* Breathe say you need to be at least 18 years old and will need to pay by Credit card, or direct debit. If you pay be credit card you can have instant access, or if you pay with direct debit you need to fill out the required mandate before they switch you on. You may cancel your subscription after your first month. TECHNICAL SUPPORT ***************** A Support for any technical queries is available 24 hours, 7 days a week to help you with your technical query. However calls are charged at 50p per minute which is normal for most companies. You also need to advice Breathe if you change telephone numbers, as it will only allow you to access from one phone line at any time. I have only needed to contact them once, which was by email it took them a week to reply!! THEIR WEBSITE ************* It is a pretty simple website, but
does its job well, but you can often find links that just dont work. It is easy to navigate around and offers services which include:- Chatrooms WAP access You can send 10 free SMS text messages a day. Is does have a reminder box about how many you have send today. Bookmarks which is a handy tool for remember site address which works a bit like my Favorite folder. This is handy if you access the internet from more than one computer. Mail centre which is their online email system whcih they are currently upgrading. This is something I use and find it very annoying to find that I cannot log in on many occasions. I use this service a lot to pick up email when I am travelling or on holiday, and found it to be off for most of my three week honey moon, meaning I could not keep in contact with my family. PS try 64USD for 2 x three minute photo calls from the Bahamas to England!!. I am also fed up with the fact that my email prior to the middle of September has disappear and I now I get this message in its place:- We're still in the process of transferring your old emails and address books to our new system. You might be able to find your old mail in 'Local Folders' under your 'Inbox'. If not, then please bear with us they should be available to you in the next few days. We apologize for any inconvenience I use this address as well for out of hours work purposes and cannot remember which emails have gone missing. So if your crew of your oilrig has not turned up, its properly because I have lost your email and send them to the wrong place!. This shows a huge weakness in storing email online! On the whole its a good reliable service. I connect between 46667 and 49000 bps everytime. The service does have a 2 hour cut of period and if your inactive for 10 minutes or more it also pulls the plug. Make you own mind up about this service.
I have found breathe to be the best i have found so far. Many Thanks for reading! Best regards Baz

Breathe now offer Internet Service Provider Service that you pay 1p a minuet for Internet access, which to me seems quite reasonable I mean on a phone on the Vodafone network, it costs 12p to send one text message! They also offer links 2 other sites where you can get ringtones and logo's for your phone. (i think you have to pay for these though) On Breathe, you can send them for FREE! But despite this, almost all the reviews I have read on Dooyoo are against Breathe and the 1p per minuet service. This may be because of the supposed “free unlimited access” that some Internet Severe Providers are now offering. My experience of so called “free unlimited access” is not good at all. The Company which will remain nameless advertised “free unlimited internet access”, but it wasn’t, They were not charging the money to my telephone bill, but month after month, they were taking £50, £60 or even £70 out of my bank account! As well as my paying £100 a year for using it! I’m now using Freeserve, which is a dam site better; I pay just £6 a month, and get free Internet access after 6pm weekdays, and all weekend! So as for Breathe, I think that it is a good Internet Service provider with plenty of potential. It has a large audience of people, a really great site, which is easy to navigate round and has great services. This really does makes using the Internet much easier and more pleasurabl
e and in my opinion is paving the way for Internet sites of the future. Also although you have to pay 1p per minuet, this may be cheaper then what you are currently paying (depending on how much you use the Internet and your ISP).

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

When you register with www.breathe.com by typing in a few personal details you get access to a load of free online services which include a web based organizer, chat rooms, free E-mail, text messaging, route finder and much more. I have found that when accessing breathe.com it has been rather slow and completing the registration process took quite a while because of this. I would say that the speed of the site is quite bad especially considering that this is the type of site that needs to be regularly accessed. The chat rooms on the site are quite good and are well worth a visit the free text messaging too. The organizer is quite a unique part of the site. On your first visit you are presented with a full-page calender showing a month to a view. When you click on a date it will bring up a view for that day. If you are planning to use the service for work, you can upload files such as documents and presentations so people in different locations can work on the same document simultaneously. The organizer service can also be syncronized with either a Palm handheld organizer or a copy of the E-mail program Microsoft Outlook running on your PC. I've read that Breathe.com's future may be a little cloudy as the backers Great Universal Stores have closed down the ISP side of the business. Overall if you don't mind the slow speed of www.breathe.com then its well worth of visit for all the features it offers.

After the demise of breathe freely, perhaps it should have been a case of once bitten twice shy, but £20 then 1p/minute for 24/7 internet access seemed reasonable (compared well for a light user). Oh dear, breathe.con has conned us again. breathe easy is finishing barely two months after being set up and now suggestion of what is to be available in its place. Advantages of breathe: - generally quick access (which was noticably quicker when it was free!) - no hassle connecting Disadvantages: - absolutely dire homepage which I cannot believe is attractive even to the Ibiza types that it seems to be aimed at - can't make they're services pay! reluctant to recommend a company which seems to take pleasure in repeatedly ripping off customers.

                  Disadvantages

This site is primarily used by people for sending free text messages, previously this site required no membership no be able to either send free text messages or use the other facilities, which consist such features as chat rooms and information on TV schedules. But now you have to sign up, membership is obviously free and you are then able to send text messages at your will, to do this you only need to type in the number of the phone you wish to send a message to and type in your desired message with a limited number of characters. The TV schedule on the site is very useful and comprises of listings for most satellite and all terrestrial channels. There are many other features such as news in general, sports news and you can also sign up to other texting features for often a small fee. All in all this website is possible not as good as it used to be, because in the past you did not need to sign up originally or log in every time you wish to view the site.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

There are numerous free text messaging services out there on the internet. Of the ones I have used and have found, Breathe is the best one I have used. Firstly it is very easy to use and very quick to use if you are sending multiple messages. This is my major complaint with text messaging services, most of them you have to go through a very long process from sending one message through to being able to send another. Breathe doesn't do this, one click of your mouse and you are straight back to your phone number. Now obviously with any service there are going to betimes when it doesn't work. It's not working very well at this very moment in time, but it is rare that Breathe doesn't work. A second thing with the free text message sites is the speed at which messages arrive at their target. Some are very slow and can take up to and past five minutes to arrive at their destination. Breathe on the other hand is very quick. No sooner have you sent your message than it has arrived! All in all, a simple, quick and effective way of sending text messages for free.

                  Disadvantages

I use breathe occasionally to download my e-mails and surf the internet. There has never been a problem logging onto my account, unlike some servers, and the site has always been up and running smothly. Thumbs up too for Breathe's marketing techniques because unlike some ISPs i do not get bombarded with loads of junk e-mails. However, when enquiring about the £50 flat fee service i was told that i needed to be a BT customer. This was a big dissapointment as i am a NTL customer and do not wish to change. The initial set up was very straight forward and they posted me a cd set up disk within a few days of enquiring about the service. It is well worth a try and in my opinion comes out as one of the best services on the market.

About 12 months ago now I was considering signing up for the Breathe freely service. The deal was £50 for a 24/7 service, thats 24 hours a day and 7 days a week of unlimited service. Fortunately I kept my hand in my pocket as it would have caused a lot of heartache had I spent my money. By unlimited I understand to mean having no limitations of use, hence use it as much as you want. However anyone using it more than a couple of hours a day ended up being booted off for over use!! As far as I am aware it wasn't a bad service but wasn't the best either. It was good value at 50-00 for life but not good value when you think that people were being booted off after a couple of months. You never even got your money back when you got booted off, all you got was 50-00 worth of internet calls to Breaths pay as you surf service where you pay call charges. This was a gross rip off of their agreement of unlimited access for life. I feel sorry for people who were sucked in by this scam but i'm glad that I never went for it myself. Good riddance to Breaths demise now as they have finished this rip off offer.

I had been using breathe's 'Breathe Freely' internet connection for around 6 months now and it 'HAD' been alright, no line busy, no problems, apart from the 2 hour kick off but that was on most ISPs like BT so i didn't think that was unreasonable. But then the support was c**p, it just took the p**s. I had to work out my problems myself, they answered every question that I asked, but i tried their answer and it never worked once. And then, one weekend, I was at a friends house and i came back to find out that I couldn't connect, so i had to find other ISP quickly, but it wasn't free, and I checked my email through that and i found out that they had closed the service. They gave NO real reason and no refunds, discounts or ANYTHING similar. I am now currently looking for a new ISP.

Breath have now withdrawn their offer of unmetered unlimited internet access in a blaze of controversy. The deal was you paid Breath £50-00 and they would supposedly give you free unmetered unlimited internet access for life. The problems started when Breath started kicking off members for using the UNLIMITED service too much! A little bit of a contradiction in terms in my book. These people were booted off the system and Breath continued. Then they suddenly realised that a service for £50-00 for life was impossible to make a profit on. This is where they stopped offering their service anymore and have cancelled it. This has all lead to very bad publicity for Breath and hasnt done them any favours whatsoever. However it is just another internet company that have realised that it is financially unviable to offer unmetered access which is a disaster for us consumers because the only way that internet usage will grow is through free call access and more and more free call ISP's are withdrawing their offers because they have found it financially unviable. The problem is now that people will have reluctance to sign upto anymore free call ISP's who require up front payment because there is no guarantee that the ISP will see out it's contract. I advise you all to tread carefully.
