I was persuaded by British Gas with whom for some inexplicable reason I have their 3 star cover on my central heating, to take out an extra insurance with them on my plumbing and drains. This I did thinking that for the £50 or so per annum that it costs it would be cheaper than calling out a plumber should anything go wrong.
So almost a couple of weeks ago the neighbour in the flat underneath mine telephoned to say she had water coming from my flat into hers.
I called out British Gas who promised a plumber would be there the next day between 8 and 1pm. He didnt arrive and after a few phone calls he finally turned up late in the afternoon, fiddled around under the bath for 10 minutes then pronounced that it was not
a plumbers job, but a job for Dyno-rod who they subcontract a lot of work to.

He called his office and Dyno-Rod were booked to attend the following day. Again they were hours late and after looking around declared, this is a job for the BG plumber not for them.
I called British Gas yet again and a plumber was booked to come out later that day, before 7pm I was told.
At 7pm the plumber called me to say that he wasnt coming out that day. He sounded as if he was at home with the TV and the kids.
He said the call centre should not have promised that he would be there. He would not come until the following day.(day 3).
He arrived the next day and could not find the leak so left having again done nothing.

During all of last week I have been calling British Gas to find out when they would return. Finally on day 8 of this saga another plumber came and said it was a job for, guess who, Dyno-Rod but as I had been messed about so much he would fix it, but he couldnt do it that day as he didnt have the parts.On day 11 guess who turned up without an appointment, Dyno-Rod, but as I wasnt expecting anyone I was out and they left a card through the door to say they had been.

We have now reached day 12 of this leak a
nd a call to the British Gas call centre was fruitless. I finally asked to complain to a Manager who called me back an hour later promising me that a plumber would be coming today.
An hour later Dyno-Rod telephoned me asking what was the problem.I told them and they said thats not a job for us , we will get the plumber from British Gas to call you in an hour.That was over four hours ago.
We are now almost at the end of day 12 of this leak and with no prospect of British Gas turning up.
They are as hopeless as always.
It is only a water leak after all.
Nothing important it seems to British Gas.

If I could give them a no star rating I would.
