BT. What can I sat about BT? Lots, but none it's positive.

I have been with BT for about 11 months. The told me at the start of my contract that they could spread the cost of installing a line, which costs £124, and I would get it half price. Wow I thought. Did it happen, of course it didn't. It took about 2 months to get resolved.

Then in May this year I changed bank provider so I logically contacted everyone business that I had setup a DD with and told them of the change. Guess who didn't amend their records. I rang up in June and told them again. "Yes sir we will get that amended for you."

So July comes around and guess what. They are still trying to collect my monthly payment from my old acount. Luckily I'm putting a bit of money in there still, but I'm annoyed by this time.

I got a letter saying it had all been sorted for August. Good I thought. Then I moved house. Contacted the moving team "That will be £124 as noone has lived in the property before." I like to consider myself quite a polite and articulate fellow, but I tell you, the copper line turned red with amount of expletives that came out of my mouth. Long story short they installed the line and didn't charge me for it. (not through kindess, I honestly believe they forgot.)

I got another letter through in October saying we have not been able to collect you payments. I tried to call my bank from my BT line and there was an automated message saying a restriction had been placed on the line.

I contacted my bank. "Urgh there is no DDM for BT sir." I contacted my old bank "Yes sir there is a DDM in place, but as there is no money in your account the payments have been rejected." Cool. I cancelled the DDM with the bank (should have done it ages ago) but the killer was that they had introduced a "personal referal fee of £20. If you don't payback the £20, they charge you another £20. Un-beknownst to me, this had been going on since August.

Upshot, because BT failed to update my bank records on 3 seperate occassions, I clocked up £192 in charges from my bank.

They have paid it back, and the details have now been changed, but I am now in arrears on the payments and the, nice people, at BT won't lift the restriction until I'm up together.

I guess this has been more of a warning than a review because I'm not even going to give it a star (apparently I have to though). If there is any other way of getting a line rented, find it. Even if you costs you double!

Why does dooyoo force you to give terrible products/services a star? The problems I have seen with BT defy belief, including transferring a home line from one home to another and changing it to a business line in the process, thus charging a cancellation fee. Eventually got a credit, took eight months. A credit on an account that no longer existed, so was useless. Took another month to sort out. Nine months, numerous letters and phone calls close to double digits where the BT staff hang up on you. BT provide a good service. If you don't have enough stress in your life, this is where to come.

I hate DD. You lose control of your money. You wait until your bank account gets hacked.:< At least the Broadband is going down.
