I've seen no evidence that they have any customer service staff (BT)

Disadvantages: Incompetent and appalling customer service

I signed up for my landline rental from BT two years ago as we had Sky tv and broadband and from what I understand I had no choice, and I had nothing but problems with them.

They told me what my phone number would be but they'd got it wrong, I tried to contact them a few times at the start about when the line would be set up and what my phone number was but there never seemed to be anyone there to answer the phone. I tried leaving my name and number for a callback, but despite being very pleasant the bloke who phoned me back was unable to do anything about my simple query and just transferred me back into the same queue that I'd been in before to talk to someone.

I stated that I wanted to pay by direct debit and got a phone call from someone asking me for my bank details so I asked them to send me a form which I never got. I then get billed for 3 months plus £4.50 charge for not paying by direct debit, I wrote (as phoning was completely unsuccessful) to say I wanted to pay by direct debit but was ignored so I paid the bill minus the £4.50. In the end I got the direct debit set up and they immediately took the £4.50 which I considered they'd overcharged me out of my account.

I was torn when I found out that I could now get line rental from Sky as their customer service is dire too but in the end I decided it would be better just to deal with one badly run, incompetent, uncaring customer service department than two and switched, I don't intend to use BT again

Summary: I wouldn't recommend them to anyone
