Why BT are Frightened (BT)

Advantages: Fast Internet connection (maybe)

Disadvantages: May take a while :-)

BT has had it far too easy for far too long. With the introduction of fast Internet connections comes a price. Not to the consumer but to BT itself.

Will we see the end of the telephone?

In it's place Internet telephone (voice over IP)

The theory being that once everyone has a fast Internet connection your computer will become the telephone, with no telephone charges. BT would lose a large amount of revenue do to this fact.

That is why I believe that BT is taking it easy when rolling out their new ADSL service.

For me personally I will be able to get BT's ADSL service ... wait for it......late 2001.

Britain has a 3rd world country's telecommunications system to my mind BT's fault.
