I am currently a Home Highway User.. The BT ISDN Box is fitted into the Attic Room connected to the main Phone socket, 2 floors below me, via a cable on the outside of the building..
I decided to have it all changed to Broadband and the conversion was to be carried out today.. 6th May.
Sure enough.. the engineer called this morning telling me he was about to disconnect my line at the exchange and would then come to my house to do the conversion.. Within the hour he arrived.. I explained the way it had been wired up..He said,he was only there to change the main socket and how I got the cable from there to the attic was up to me.. I told him I wasn't accepting that and cancelled the job.. He told me it was a Self Installation..As far as I know, that means, the customer installs the modem and connects up the PC. I didn't think that included wiring the house for a telephone line.
Now BT say they , as a Goodwill Gesture, they will come on the 14th a do the conversion plus install an extension to the Attic..
As there was originally an extension to the attic which had been removed by the Home Highway Installer.. BT are NOT doing me any favours.. If this engineer had his way.. I would have been left with less than I originally had..
This is all typical of a Communications Company who are obviously unable to Communicate..
They were quick to remove the cost of the Broadband Equipment from my Bank Account though

I apologise for the fact that I posted this same comment twice in this site.. I AM new to the site and haven't quite found my way around.. I had posted this comment here before realising it would have been better in the General Section..
As far as I know.. ASDL and Broadband are the same..
The cost until June is only £40 for the equipment.. as it is an Offer..
It is not my only bad experience with BT. I have outlined more in the General Section briefly.. and that is by no-means complete..
Full details of the Broadband Service can be found in www.bt.com
I will say that having been a Home Highways Customer now for 1½ years.. I have been pleased with the service.. although working out more expensive.. but I now felt it was time to move on..

I have a BT Openworld ADSL connection and their service was great, i wonder if there's a difference between that and BT Broadband...?
Welcome to the site

I was a tad generous with the rating as you're new to the site, but it doesn't actually tell us anything about the service BT Broadband offer. If you went into more detail about what they promised you, for how much money and why you feel let down that would get you higher ratings.

Probabl y your best bet though is to write your next opinion about a product you've actually used - it makes it much easier to write a more comprehensive review.

IF you need any help with the site, then please let me know.
