BT Choose To Refuse Service Telecommunications Service

Newest Review: ... answer the phone and there is nobody at the other end. Digressing from the review topic for a moment, some useful information - if you know the calls are from a call centre trying to sell you something etc, then it is advisable to register with the Telephone Preference Service 0800 398 893. It takes a few weeks to stop the unsolicited calls but you will stop getting sales people ringing you all the time as if you register with TPS it is illegal for them to ring you. However, assuming you are being plagued with nuisance calls, or malicious calls, and want to stop them. The first thing to do is to contact BT. They were extremely helpful t... more

Express Review on BT Choose To Refuse Service

This probably worked when the last review was written but the callers have worked it out and now mark their numbers as unavailable not withheld. Choose to refuse doesn't work on unavailable numbers. That won't stop BT selling it to you though.

A friend of mine rang me this week, quite upset because she had been receiving malicious calls. I advised her to contact BT as I had done when a similar thing happened to me. BT were very helpful when I had been receiving nuisance calls - they were not malicious, just a nuisance. Although there is a difference in that the calls I received were from someone who I chose not to want to speak to ever again, the ones made to my friend last week were actually malicious and she was obviously upset. Choose to Refuse is a good service but does have it's teething problems. I have blocked a call among my withheld numbers which I can't access to reinstate without doing it for them all! Unfortunately it is my dentist! Having received constant problem calls from a public nusicance I decided to opt for this service as a lot of my friends have withhheld numbers the service blocking withheld numbers wasn't feasible. I personally feel that with this service the numbers should be shown as it can cause problems reinstating them. Also I have foreigners pretending to be BT.com and wanting me to take out a service and pay over the phone using my credit cards. I have ...  Read the complete review

I don?t necessarily mean those of the abusive type, they might be silent or the ?phone may even be replaced as soon as you pick it up ? but they?re all annoying in their own way. A large number of ?silent? phone calls are actually from companies cold selling, and these type of calls can be stopped by joining the telephone preference service (TPS), details of which can be found at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps. But alas, sometimes this won?t be the end of your problems. We have had the normal silly calls from the children?s friends, but every .  Read the complete review
