BTC dsl service is lousy to say the least. Once you need to call BTC for repairs "dog eat your lunch." They are incapable in resolving any problem in a reasonable time period. ........it appears BTC is lacking in management miserably. I noticed they would take a good technician and make him/her a manager where he/she is lacking miserably in that area and now lost a good technician and this is where BTC is failing badly. Not because you perform well technically means you can manage human resources. I notice that approximately 90% of BTC staff in management fits the above description. If we can reverse this trend BTC will be better off. I repeat, technical people are terrible at managing human resources. Fix that and we the "public" will see great improvement in the qaulity of service at all levels. If not privatisation is inevitable and most managers will soon be on the employment line.... kel2003
If you are fascinated by the internet then you may want cheaper calls, especially if you have to connect to the internet to get your emails then this is what you need. There is a fairly new service from bt called bt anytime and it's only £14.99 a month and you don't have to pay for the calls, its fab! Ring up bt from an advert off the tv I'm sorry I don't have the phone number myself, and bt will connect you up to the service as soon as they can. There are other cheaper bets but in terms of helpfulness bt is the best by far!
You are currently being held in a queue... If you sign up with Btconnect expect to hear this on a regular basis, when you phone up to report a fault. I work for a small business, where a constant net connection at a reasonable price is important which is why we signed up for BtConnect (business version) . We are currently changing over from Btconnect because over the past few months we have had a nightmare. The server goes down at least once a week, sometimes for the good part of a day. As a lot of our orders are electronic this loses us money. The customer support is lousy, often consisting of a recorded message telling you that the service is currently faulty. When I finally spoke to a human I decided that I wanted to make a complaint. They connected me, I was held in a queue and then given a number for business complaints. I phoned the number and it was wrong! There is also the annoying fact that the ISP will not let us send emails from our domain address. BT say that to get round that we have to transfer out domain name to them. A blatant example of corporate pressure. They also got the billing wrong the first time and charged us a metered rate. As we had been online all day for weeks this added hundreds of pounds to the bill. This was eventually resolved but only after a lot of wrangling. So basically I would have to conclude that BtConnect is a very poor ISP and that signing up to them will turn the calmest person into Victor Meldrew.
I think that BT connect is a pretty good ISP to say the very least! It gives you a good connection at a very good price. I would recommend this to new Internet users, but there are some things to learn about it. I am not with this ISP anymore because my dad decided to change. I did not change because it is bad; I changed because we liked BT Surftime better. It connects very fast and does not disconnect you just like freeserve or them ISP'S where you pay just £50 for a whole year. I thought these would be good and I was looking into doing it but then I found out that BT was much better. The main thing I do like about this ISP is that their web site has a really good help page and I think it is great. It helped me when I was stuck for sure. I had problems connecting and when I called BT they took me through the process very fast and efficiently which I was really pleased with. I have never had such good service in my entire lifetime. Overall, BT is very reliable and I would recommend it to anybody who wants to get on the Internet. That is all I have to say about that, so Thank you for reading my opinion and I hope you enjoyed it!
We have just changed over our ISP to BT Connect from World Online and think its pretty good...you need a standard BT line and thats all, you order surftime with BT, then register with BTCONNECT.COM, this is £19.99 per month, with £10 payable to BT Connect and all internet calls are free 24/7. I know theres a lot of different ISPs out there and some are better than others but I would definitely recomend this to anyone. A lot of people I speak to are very happy with their own ISPs too but I also find that occasionaly they get cut off after a certain amount of time on the net and touch wood thats one problem I'm yet to come across, take yesterday for example I was connected to the internet (but not sat at the computer I hasent to add!) for 13 hours without being disconnected and I certainly think thats good! :) I personally dont know all that much about the different ISPs out there, but this works for me and I would definitely recomend it.
