Advantages: NONE !!!!!!

Disadvantages: Slow Connection, No Customer Support, Non responsive to their customers

After much consideration I decided to duplicate this opinion as a warning to other potential BT Anytime clients, as I felt with the current IT climate this should be posted sooner, rather than later.

~~~0o0o0~~~
I have been a member of BTanytime since it started 18 months ago, and until the middle of September I would have recommended it to anyone, it was fast, smooth, and I could connect 'AnyTime' which of course is exactly what I was paying £15 a month to do, and what BT were advertising..connect free to BT Anytime, when you want for as long as you want, with a 2 hour cut off but you could immediatley reconnect without any penalty
~~~0o0o0o~~~

in Mid-September I got an email from BT saying that I should download a new connection file which would give me a better, faster and more reliable service, it said that I should do this within a set time limit as the old number was going to be defunct, so being a good obedient and faithful customer I changed to the new access number..and that was when their new super dooper service went completely pear shaped...

~~~0o0o0o~~~
Since then I have had real major problems connecting to the service, at times I have spent 2 hours attempting to connect to a free dial up service that I am paying a monthly fee for, I have sent four Emails of complaint to BT customer Services and to date have not had the courtesy of a reply..I refuse to ring their 50p a minute help line and have spent some 2 hours today attempting to connect to write this short ( for me) Op..
~~~0o0o0o~

Following hundreds of complaints to BBC Watchdog they reported on BT Internet Anytime two weeks ago ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/reports/reports_wbta nytime.shtml ...Mid September) and they were told by a BTInternet insider that BT customer service operators had instruction to FOB Complainers off by saying things like ' we're sorry but its been particularly busy today',
or being totally non committal with BT Abytime users, to date despite voicing my concerns I haven't even had the courtesy of an automated response form BT customer Services...

I am now changing my ISP and am currently changing all my email addresses for all my various on line accounts....I have spoken to AOL today who also offer a similar service to BT Anytime for the same price, and they have assured me that they do not penalise heavy users, I connect for about an average of 3 hours a day over a 24 hour period so hardly what I would call heavy, BT Anytime seem to think the opposite they surveyed all their 'heavy' users during the summer and decided who was going to be put on a special hit list and told to switch to this 'New improved' dial up number...

~~~0o0o0~~~
In Conclusion, and considering how BT have totally ignored my attempts to contact them, it is very difficult to be objective about BT, they are trying to get their heavy usesrs off BT Anytime by fobbing them off with a seriously inferior quality service with no customer support or help(unless you want to pay 50p a minute to speak to someone), in the hope that their angry customers will move to BT broadband which caters for heavy users and is of course £25 a month more expensive...my argument is if BT cant get a basic service like BTAnytime running properly how can people like me expect them to get a broadband service up and running satisfactorily......they will in time no doubt fob off their heavy users on this service also
~~~0o0o0~~~

I cannot recommend BT Anytime to anyone, it is slow, dreadful to connect to, and a dreadful customer service, help is available if you are prepared to connect to their pay for help line for an average period of 25 mins at 50p a min ( as stated in their on line blurb )..

BT Anytime.....rubbish !! it should be called BT Sometime..if ever !! they are a disgrace to the communications industry.....

~~~0o0o0~~~
AND IF YOU ARE A BT EXECUTIVE READING THIS....due to your misleading advertising ignorance and incompetence, I have closed my account and wont be using your services again...
I have today (2nd October) registerd a complaint with OFFTEL the telecom watchdog about BT Internet services...they said that they are watching BT and have had a lot of complaints to the extent that they are now logging all formal complaints..so if you have a problem with BT let me assure you that they don't give a toss and you will not hear from their customer services ( I still haven't despite 4 emails sent to them over the last 3 weeks)
Call Offtel and register your complaint on 0845 7145000 and tell them about the problems you have been having with BT Internet....
Ah much better here..have a well deserved VU. What did you mean by duplicated btw? I assumed you had already put an op in this category.
Way back in the mists of time (well about a yewar and half ago actually) I had BT Internet'sevening and weekend package and found it a pretty good service. SWounds liker things have changed since then. These days being a recent NTL subscriber I have no choice but to use the dreaded AOL. Not as bad as you'd think actually...
Good as the opinion is you admit it is a duplication (which is naughty) and it is clearly in the in the wrong category so I've had to award a NU. Sorry!
