This op has been written to warn people of BTINTERNET so here it is

I brought this computer in July and I paid £3,000 for it in cash and when I got it home and unpacked it and set it all up I was very excited at the prospect of the superb things that i would find on the Internet(and no not porn) and i was looking forward to making my own web site and writing columns for web sites and more - I signed up with BTINTERNET as it charged my phone line and it would be easier - the bloke said to me that I would be better off with a pay as you go package and I believed him - he did not mention though that it was 60p a minute and i use the PC something like 18 hours out of the day(yep true i worked from home until about a month ago now i have a job so i spend from 5pm till 5am on it) so when my first bill came in for £750 i was very shocked and amazed i phoned them and asked them if there was a cheap package i could go on and they said i was signed up for a surf time package(free evening calls and weekend calls) and i pointed out that I was placed on a pay as you go package and the man said there had been a mistake and i should not still be on that package i then told him i was refusing to pay the £750 bill and it ended with me getting a surf time package and him cutting £500 off the phone bill which i readily accepted.

Things went from bad to worse then as i stopped going on the Internet during the day and instead went on the Internet at 6pm and stayed on there until about 5am (the free calls are from 6pm till 8am - in my first month i used 464 free hours) well they started disabling the free dialer in a bid to make me pay and in the first month i phoned them over 100 times because of this disabling thing(for the record it kept saying the line was faulty but my mate who works for BT said they do that if you over use their free dialer) and on top of that the connection only lasted about 4 minutes well i was getting phone bills for £60 to £100 and i nev
er look at them I assumed my girlfriend was on the phone a lot but when i got my last bill on the 14th November the bill was £120 I then looked and i realized they were not only charging me for connecting to the free dialer every time but they also charged me for using the free dialer just like i was using the pay dialer which I think is out of order and illegal.

I tried to complain and was disconnected from my phone line for my trouble but i have been reconnected after threatening them that i would report them when they reconnected me i then phoned them and said i was going to report them as no where in my contract with them does it say that i will pay for the free dialer in connecting or for calls as it is free.

Has anyone else suffered this? as i think it must be illegal and I have sent a complaint to a complaints investigator magazine called WHICH and i have sent a copy of my complaint to both BT and BTINTERNET and on another note i sent a complaint to the trading standards which covers BTINTERNET.

I hope they stop this as it is not my fault for taking advantage of this offer and i know other people have taken advantage as well

I HAVE JUST CHANGED MY ISP FROM BT TO BLUEYONDER. THE PROBLEMS I HAD WERE MAINLY CONNECTION ONES, BUT THIS WAS STILL A PROBLEM IN THE EARLY HRS (2 OR 3 AM) AND YES CONNECTIONS WERE STILL DROPPED THEN AS WELL. I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY FINAL BILL SO I WILL LET YOU KNOW OF THE OUTCOME. (I WAS ON SURFUNLIMITED)

I heard that this service was being looked into by trading standards as so many people have had trouble with it. I subscribe to surf-time with Tiscali as my internet provider and have had little trouble. BT know that we haven't many choices as far as thier lines go and they take full advantage of that fact, they truely are robbing gits!
