Advantages: Access to Wireplay, Free(ish)
Disadvantages: Dodgy dialler, evryone offers free access therse days
I joined BT Internet about 6 months ago, due to my escalating phone bills, and I liked the look of their free between 6pm and midnight for a tenner a month deal. My first problem was signing up - they had a limited way of taking credit - Delta and Visa only, no other debit or credit cards accepted which I thought was strange for a company the size of BT. Never mind, a quick delve into my sisters pockets produced the required piece of plastic, and I signed on. Signing up online was quick, easy and painless, and in no time at all, I was surfing with BT for free(ish) thanks to their free dialler. I have to say that the actual service provided by BT Internet has been quite good. There have been the odd problems with trying to connect (only once or twice in siz months, mind) and sometimes it can be quite slow (perhaps once or twice a month). They e-mail you every month to tell you when they are taking payment from your credit/debit card which is handy, and they also send free newsletters quite frequently, some of which contain special offers for BT Internet customers (which all ISP's do these days) With BT Internet (if you have the BT Internet CD), you get the free Wireplay software which enables you to play a multitude of games on the internet. (With Wireplay being an ex-BT company, as a BT Internet customer, you get access to the "private" Wireplay servers which are faster supposedly)) The only other thing I have to say is that the special software dialler that they ask you to use has caused some problems on my computer - specifically it crashes a lot, forsing me to reboot, and it has an awful tendancy to not disconnect when you right click on the network icon in the tray) Apart from those minor points, I must say that my experience of BT Internet has been a fairly good thing. I don't know how much it is these days with BT Surftime, but I didn't feel cheated paying £10 per month.
Although with everyone offering some sort of pay for unlimited access these days, it would be best to shop around first...
