cableandwireless.com Telecommunications Service

Newest Review: ... would be suprised just how many pay for call ISP's offer poor service despite the fact that you are paying them for every minute online. The home page isn't brilliant and contains not much other than NTL adverts. However there is some news information although if your going with C&W I would advise using your own choice as your homepage. The sign on page when you set up an account is excellent. After you have signed on it displays a summary that you can print out and keep, so there is no trying to remember what mail settings, passwords, and so on - everything that you want is there. The only problem that I have found is that t... more

I have used so many ISP's as I have searched for the perfect one and I have to say when it comes to internet access with local call charges, Cable and Wireless has to be one of the best (even after NTL have got their claws in)!! You don't find engaged tones and connection problems with C&W which is a very good point immediately. From Mercury Communications to NTL ! (184 words)

I was an existing member of what was then MCL.net just before Mercury was taken over by Cable and Wireless, after the takeover and name change from mcmail.com --> cwcom.net things became worse and worse. Newsgroups were inaccessable, and email was either being lost. Support line prices increased and the future looked bad especially as I was paying #10/month. Then they introduced CWC-Lite, which was a free service, similar to the main one but with only 1 email address. Then they changed the service again dropping my #10 charge, and introducting a call charge inclusive service -CWC Connect. Then things got much better email became faster, newsgroups lists expanding and .  Read the complete review

cableandwireless.com: Cable & Wireless ntl (247 words)

Cable & Wireless were the first isp that I used when I first got connected to the internet two and half years ago, and I am still using them today. The free install disc came from a magazine and I was surprised how clear and easy it was to install with an option to see what it was like before I paid a one off £10.00. Since then they have sent me an upgrade to modify ‘outlook express IE5’ which is very handy because I have it on my computer at work, and therefore familiar with the outlay. Yes I have had problems now and then with their connection, but this has been because the Cable & Wireless server has been down and it is a rare thing. The Cable ...  Read the complete review

I'm on C&W Connect (I've been a customer since it was Mercury Internet Dial in 1997!) and its reasonably quick, with good customer service, a *full* news service, and quick connection speeds. I've only occasionally had problems with email not coming through for an hour or two, but overall, I've nothing to complain about. I don't know what's going to happen after ntl take over, but hopefully i'll be able to keep the cheaper calls (0.5p/min w/ends), or upgrade to the blueyonder cable modems in Nov/Dec. Although its not free, its reliable, and you get *something* for the money! ...  Read the complete review

cableandwireless.com: BETTER THAN FREESERVE!! (114 words)

I use a few different 'free' ISPs, including Freeserve and Line One, but I have found the Internet Lite service from Cable and Wireless the best. It is fast, cheaper per minute because I have a C&W phone line and rarely drops out during a session. One of the problems that another opinion identified is the e-mail service. However, I found the account management side really simple and if you use the accounts on a 'POP' platform then they work as well as any. Nice short addresses too! Not tried technical support, but the on-screen help is good and to be fair I have never had a major problem... ...  Read the complete review
