claranet.co.ukNewest Review: ... or in some cases (e.g. Altavista) disappearing altogether. I was starting to appreciate being with an ISP that was not "here today, gone tomorrow" and carefully considered their steps forward. I am currently a subscriber to Claranet Freetime Unlimited. This allows me to be online without incurring any call charges between 6pm and 2am on weekdays, and all day on weekends. I could choose a higher package, but while I am either sleeping or working between 2am and 6pm what is the point in spending more money needlessly? Free time on occasional days off work would be nice, but a change that would certainly benefit me would be... more |

Claranet to send in the bailifs
Four months ago, I got a very threatening letter from a company called westcott demanding £9.40 on behalf of claranet. I had no idea who they were and perhaps foolishly, perhaps because I was a bit scared of the aggro, I paid. I then found claranet's details and asked for my money back or an explanation.
Three e-mails to claranet and still no response.
Very poor service claranet!!!!!

In the autumn on 1997 I was preparing to go online outside of University for the first time. I was flicking through Internet magazines and happened to come across a provider called Claranet. Their advertisement offered a free CD, and so I chose to give them a call, thus beginning a relationship that still exists today. Initially Claranet was quite expensive for me. As most Internet Service Providers (or ISPs as they are more frequently known) were years ago no calls were included with your monthly fee, and so the phone bill was hit pretty hard. There were also occasional frustrations of being cut off every so often in the middle of surfing. It was not perfect by ... Read the complete review

Only fault I have with this service is the price compared to other flat rate services - Advantages: fast connection, good customer service - Disadvantages: price

Initially my dad signed up to use Clara for himself, whilst I was suing another ISP. However, seeing what this ISP had to offer, I decided to sign-up too. This allowed us to have the same account and same money, but also to take advantage of their Clara Free Time accounts. This has meant that I now no-longer have to pay for those expensive BT phone bills every 3 months. However, I do have to pay a rather expensive ISP bill once a year. All though it's about £60 for me (and is a considerable saving) this is the price after dividing between me and my dad. So, for about £120, it is rather expensive. The Clara Free Time Deal has meant that I've made ... Read the complete review

OK these guys are really bad, theyre the most money grabbing, down-right greedy isp i have ever tried. I've actually had accounts with 7 or 8 different account and i'd recommend any one of those over these b*****ds,. They took/stole £30 from my account AFTER i had canceled it. And they wont refund this because i dont have a cancelation number. I didnt have a "cancelation number" because they didnt mention anything about them when i canceled, i had no idea that i should have recieved on at the time. imho i think they made this up, like they were making up new terms and conditions on the fly during a month long exchange of emails. Another thing is they ... Read the complete review
