connectfree.co.ukNewest Review: ... it was out there. My next option was a company called ConnectFree (located at www.connectfree.co.uk). Amazingly, they seemed to offer almost exactly what I was looking for, and had a pretty superb package. Basically, you're allowed to register as many different domain names as you want, although they are only able to offer co.uk and org.uk suffixes. In addition, each domain name and account you register ofers what ConnectFree describe as unlimited server space (although my understanding is that they would limit it to about 2 Gb). Pretty amazing, I think you'll agree. You're also allowed to have as many e-mail addresses on... more |

What's YOUR PERSONAL website address? Well, these days, everyone seems to have their own website, but many people settle for something naff like www.tom1385.fsnet.co.uk, as I did when I signed up with Freeserve and got my first very own bit of Internet real estate. Says nothing does it, and everyone knows it's just a naff little couple of pages hosted by Freeserve, just like a million others around the world. No, if you're serious about getting your own mega presence on the net, what is now almost a prerequisite is your very own personal domain name, with none of those give away and totally naff suffixes. After making my first few abortive ... Read the complete review

When asked who the first ISP to offer free 0845 local rate access was, many would reply Freeserve and the more educated might say X-Stream. X-Stream was actually the first, however the fact they used banners to prop the system up meant that they weren't a proper ISP. As such ConnectFREE came in between the two and was the first to offer a bog standard 0845 dial up and no subscription fee with no catches. These days ConnectFREE haven't really changed, at the time of writing their website is still one of the UK's ugliest and they recently dropped the FreeCall 0800 £25 per month package. The services on offer do seem fairly robust and confident, however due ... Read the complete review

Frankly, when there are ISPs around like Connectfree, I don't know how Freeserve manages to get even one user. I ahve been using Connectfree for a year and a bit now, and after a hiccup at the start of the companie's history, the service has been excellent. I always connect first time and the connection is rock solid. It is also very fast. I get a ping of 149 on my dated 14.4 modem. The features of the service are great: Unlimited E-mail addresses Unlimited webspace, ad-free (Great FTP upload) Exclusive Tucows mirror Exclusive content Loads of other things like Quake 2 server etc. The other upside is that you don't need to download any ...
