Demon ADSLNewest Review: ... there. It was also very reliable so that's also excellent. This was costing me £18 per month (a bit cheaper now with the VAT cut). Speed varies according to your line, distance from the BT Exchange, equipment, etc so it's still advertised as 'Up to' 8Mbit like most other ISPs. Like many other ISPs, the connection was advertised as 'Unlimited' meaning, you can download as much as you'd like with a cap (although presently, rightly deemed as false advertising due to Fair Usage policies, which is the small print stating that excessive use is still a big no no). Most ISPs are quite lax with this policy but unfortunately, Demon aren't an... more |

Demon is a trading name of THUS, whom have now been taken over by Cable and Wireless. They are an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and I was using their ADSL at home for a year before deciding to switch to Be. A number of offices at work also use Demon so I've had experience with their business as well as consumer products. SETTING UP Migrating to Demon's ADSL service from a different ISP was very easy. I did it several times and this simply involved asking the existing ISP for a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) which you then give to Demon when ordering the Demon ADSL service. For home, I ordered the ADSL online and entered the MAC there. A ... Read the complete review

Demon used to be Our Broadband Wholesaler at work, The speeds Demon offer are very good. Demon hardly never has any down time either due to network faults and if they do its generally aa BT fault on there network which has caused it. Customer service is good when we used to ring them up, Always polite and always got our faults resolved asap by contacting BT for us. Demon Re-Balance there network monthly too to ensure all our broadband users had a fair use of bandwith. Our customers was split into 3 pipes. Unfortunatly Demon Cap broadband connections if you use too much even if you have an Unlimited connection. (fair Use policy applys etc ... Read the complete review

I have had a Demon account for a long time (must be nearly 10 years now) starting with a dialup account and now an ADSL account. In between I also had an ISDN line installed which I used for work purposes for a year or so but was generally pretty disappointed with the unreliable connection and low speed. I made the move to ADSL because I was spending more and more time working from home and spending more and more time using internet services. I am glad I made the move because I am now studying an MBA and I would be absolutely lost without the speed and reliability I get from the service. I have a home ADSL router (an AlliedData ... Some details first: I have used Demon ADSL for almost two years. I have Demon Express Solo which costs me $24.99 a month. At the time I subscribed, I had to pay for network set-up (at £49.98 - but now this is free). I did the installation at home myself. I use a router-modem to connect my main work-horse computer plus a couple of others that are used lightly. My router-modem is a Netgear DG814 (which connects up to four computers) which I bought for £126.90 from Dabs.com. Setting up the service with a router-modem was a little more complex than using just an ADSL modem, but well worth it if you want to use more than one computer. Getting the service going was ... An example of you pay for what you get. Demon provide a Professional 24/7 Operation with 24 hour real support of knowledgable professionals who can really help when there is a problem. They are open and honest about any perceived downtime or reduction in services. Over the last 24 months there have been 3 occasions when I have been unable to connect immediately first time and collect mail remotely. Twice the BT Oswestry Internet Switching centre has been down or had a problem and once when the mail clusters were withdrawn from access following a deliberate and concerted attack on the mail system globally. They have their own Redundant Backbone ... Read the complete review
