Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: RUN BY COMPUTERS
Maybe Easily staff are all on holiday?... It's the end of September 2002. I have many domain names registered with easily, including hosting. I have never had a problem, everything is automated. You look for a domain and give your credit card to register it, and email arrives telling confirming your purchase and you get your user account login and password, it's all automated .... simple..... But what happens when you register a domain an the email does not come ? .. maybe you typed in the wrong email address? you wait a couple of days and then check the WHOIS sure enough the domain has been registered to you ... GREAT ! so you send an email to your new domain .. sure enough it comes through to your designated admin email address. So... try and login to the easily.co.uk web site, USERNAME AND PASSWORD NOT RECOGNISED. no problem, hit the forgot password/login button (all automated) enter your admin email address .. the systems checks your address to the listed database and as if by magic you get a message "you will be sent your password by email" if you type a wrong address in you are told that you are not on the database. This is good because it proves you have a registered email address with easily. BUT .. your email never arrives. No problem, lets use the human element .. email. Wait 3 days and no reply, not even automated "thank you we will get back to you". Go to the web site and fill out the support form .. no reply. Resort to being a human and use the phone !! no one answers the dedicated helpdesk phone line ! OK getting frustrated now ... use the helpdesk fax number USE BIG HELP ME TYPE. No reply !! I decide to check the web for any feedback ... I find this site, all comments are well out of date, check the easily.co.uk web site ... customer recommendations date back a year !! Are they still there? Are computers just processing your credit card and registering your domain ??? I
don't know ! What I do know is that I am now worried about my other accounts and actually remember a few months back when I asked for the MySQL detail ... I did not get a reply !! I moved from UK2.net because I was worried about the NON HUMAN element and thought it was good that Easily.co.uk published phone support. Now.... I don't know, is there anyone there, are they just raking the money in? Can I inform my credit card company to dispute payment? I don't know .. do you ? I've lost a really important business contact as I was setting him up with his own email account under his surname/domain name. I think I will resort back to previous hosts with a human contact .. even if a bit more expensive ... HOW MUCH IS YOUR PIECE OF MIND WORTH?

- 26/09/02 Hiya RDmac and welcome to DooYoo... I personally don't purchase anything over the internet if I don't have to, I'm not a technophobe at all, in our house, computers are our friends - it's just these companies that are a pain in the a***!
Your op was good, slightly lacking in information though - you mention that other hosts are more expensive, yet you make no mention of price and not a lot of information about the website - apart from it's all automated.
Also, there was a few points that were difficult to read (maybe it's just me though) where you include lots of ".."'s ?!
Anyhoo....wel come to the site read (and rate) a few ops to get an idea of what I'm babbling about and if you need a hand then let me know.

- 26/09/02 It seems to me that there is a lot of tossers out there getting very rich by setting up crappy E companies that promise the world and deliver nothing.
It' s a shame for all the genuine E companies that bend over backwards to help a bloke out ! It can't do them much good when shitty companies tarnish them with the same brush !
