I wanted to cancel my standard email package and was within the 7 day cool off period, so I asked to cancel the remainer of this and close my fasthosts account, but they refused and I was told even if I am within the 7 days because my account was labled as buisness I did not qualify under the consumer protection act. I had used my own email address and paypal account so I was surprised by this technicality and asked if I could pay an extra charge to cancel early but they still refused so I am now stuck with them for a year. Word of warning DO NOT GO WITH FASTHOSTS they have very poor customer service and are over priced, use a provider such as Gandi who offer free email services.
Regret hosting my three sites with these people, sites seem to become 'unavailable' on a regular basis. My sites have also been hacked, which was clearly due to poor security at Fasthosts, as they all have different logins / passwords, and all were hacked at the same time, which can only have happened through the Fasthosts interface. Appalling company, avoid!!
Same story, the sent the invoice £6.17 on 14 March and mentioned this one is outstanding and failure to pay , lead SERVICE suspension, I don't needed the service and I let it go and later they turn up that I have to pay all these charges 14-Mar-2013 2********* Linux Standard £6.17 Overdue16-Mar-2013 2********* Linux Standard £6.17 Overdue12-Apr-2013 2********* Debt Admin Charge £24.00 Overdue15-Apr-2013 2********* Linux Standard £6.17 Overdue16-Apr-2013 2********* Linux Standard - ***********.com £6.17 Overdue So what CRAZY they have Done Suspended the service and keep raising the invoices and doubling and triplicating the amount. Stay away from this company, the are the worst in UK. I will gather other people affected and plan to make a sue and claim compensation of my time. They have to stop. Also report to other agencies.
I made the mistake of signing up with this sham of a company a few years ago, I made the even bigger mistake of not leaving sooner! When I did get round to leaving I was told I was too late, had already been billed for another year or misery. Despite not using the services at all since the renewal date and my generous offer of giving them money for nothing in return for a partial refund they refused, completely. The robot-like staff just repeated the same piece of information over and over again, failing to listen or understand any form of reason, obviously they have limited skills and have a pre-written sheet of responses in front of them!
They claim they are committed to improving customer service - one of the finest jokes I've heard in a long while - don't believe a word of it.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this cowboy outfit, spread the word and let us pray this dreadful company suffers where it really will hurt them most, their dearly beloved bank balance.
THEY JUST DONT LISTEN
A THIRD PARTY SET UP A DOMAIN FOR ME WITH FAST HOSTS.
I NEVER USED THE DOMAIN OR WEB SPACE, TWO YEARS PASS,
I ASK THE THIRD PARTY TO STOP ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE DOMAIN NAME.
I am now getting threats from Fast host saying I owe them £11.98 for the two months that THEY have extended the contract!!!! For.
I have spoken at my expense direct to their main man James Purveur, he said they will sell the debt and the cost will go to £69.00 plus expenses,
He suggested I pay the £11.98 and HE will drop any other charges (very kind of him!!)
I said for the amount it is I will pay it via PayPal, when I tried to login to Fast host account it asked for my pass word, I don't even remember having one, told James this, told me contact their support team for help........
Well still not paid it can't get help from them and still getting threats from them.
I'm in and out of the country a great deal and I'm finding the emails very annoying.
I don't believe I owe the £11.98 but I don't mind paying if it gets this MONKEY off my back....
First time and last time I have used the sham of a company.....
I have had such a terrible experience with Fasthosts - after SIX WHOLE MONTHS and many many attempts to get the problem sorted - I have now had to abandoned my whole website created with the appalingly bad Sitebuilder - Fasthosts get this from a third party - so no great support if anything major goes wrong with it. I have now waited so many months and the problem with my Sitebuilder built website was never resolved - I have now decided to rebuild my whole site from scratch and totally abandon the Fasthosts one... this has taken so long to do - but not as long as getting the problem sorted by Fasthosts - 1st approached them last August 2011 - it is now nearly Feburary 2012 - hold long do you have to wait for them to help you! Think about it - have now completed rebuilding my site with Serif Webpage - it was day and night - so glad that I have abandoned sitebuilder - now - just have to work out how to leave Fasthosts completely - I never want the misery of dealing with them again -
My dissatisfaction is only exceeded by Fasthosts inability to provide a service efficiently. There support call-center operatives are poorly trained and ineffective in communication. I am astonished at their conceited attitude and lethargic approach, where do they get these morons from and who are the cretins leading there service and customer support departments. They lost all my mails and would not compensate me in any way, the service has become slower and slower...how can a business that provide such a terrible service and crappy support get away with it.
The worst support ever! Have two dedicated servers there, both of them randomly restarts! They cannot/want to help. They say it's a software issue (?) but cannot explain the reason that a new server with no software installed by me, restarted the first day!!! Stay away from them.
Having been with Fasthosts since they started, I am reluctantly going to be leaving them at the end of my contract.
Having sent bulk emails for years with no problems, last week I had to send 640 to confirmed users. Not a huge number (I thought) and absolutely not Spam. I split them up into different emails to make it easier too. The first time it worked fine, but ever since then, their server has blocked every bulk email (to 10 or more people).
I called their help line, to be told by a rather aggressive 'customer service' rep, that no-one could send to more than 10 people at a time, or more than 1000 in a day because of 'system restrictions'. I told him that this couldn't be correct, as I had been doing this for years with no problem! Evenetually (after 40 minutes of arguing) I got through to a supervisor who told me this was only a restrivtion with onli9ne accounts, and that he was wrong. She check their port blocks, and told me I wasn't blocked, then suggested I could try another port. The guy has today emailed me with this info incidntally!
Needless to say this didn't work.
I eventually managed to resend my bulk emails by using the same account on another PC (with a different IP address). This suggests that their system HAS blocked my IP address so, unless I can get them to unblock it, I'm stuck with a useless email system on my main office computer!
It's the 2nd week running that my main email hosted with Fasthost is not working. No mail coming in, none being sent only for a few minutes a day do I have access. This is a global problem as the recorded message on the "support" line tells me. No one is answering the phone. I cannot express how disastrous this is for my business. Time to leave
Fasthost have cost me a lot of money. They messed up my cancellation and then held my domain ransom until I paid the outstanding amount.I have an idea on how we can all make them pay. Search for hosting and click on Fasthost's adds. This will cost them at least £10 every time and possibly up to £30 per click. Isn't PPC wonderful...
HiFasthost has an aggressive attitude towards its customers. They do not help you at all when there is a problem.Leave now before you have problems too.
Truly awful service from the time they get your card details. You are unable to remove your payment card unless you add another valid card - essentially, you have to cancel your payment card if you want stop paying them. They will take money without asking, renew accounts that you have explicitly requested to be cancelled, not reply to support queries if a little technical, send one line responses from a book that are not relevant to your query etc etcEverything is outsourced, low quality and difficult to use. Seriously, if you value your time, don't embark on a journey with them!
Terrible. Been with these cowboys over 3 years and finally i've moved away from them, well even after moving my domains and telling them not to renew my hosting package well in advance of the renewal date, guess what....they tried it anyways.
I knew they would do this so cancelled my card before the renewal date to ensure they couldnt touch my money and i started getting demanding emails to pay.
Phoned thier customer care team, ended up speaking to someone abroad who told me he would sort it all out (that was on the 2nd), i called back a few days later because i'd heard nothing, got told to leave it a few more days and it'll de dealt with, still heard nothing.
I called back today and demanded to speak to a UK agent, which i got through to and told his of my problems, he then hummed and hawed and said this is strange...no ones actioned the ticket.
Unreal, no one has actioned it over 15 days and they're demanding money from me when i specifically asked to cancel.
I've spent more time on the phone to these cowboys than i care to think of and if read all the reviews beforehand i would of kept away from them, luckily i only ordered basic hosting which was pretty trouble free but as for the customer care and cancellations team........as you guess they're rubbish.
Customer care is key to a good company and Fasthosts seem to think they can pretty much do what they want with your credit card, and then fob you off when you ask them to justify why they need to keep your information or ask why things are so hard with them
My company has been a reseller of FastHosts for the last 7 years. Initially they were very good but the quality of both service and support has declined significantly over the years to the point where I would describe the current levels of service and support as extremely sub-standard. I'm being billed for services that are/were included in the reseller plan but if you call to query an invoice (having selected the Accounts option on their automated phone service) I got through eventually to a technical support operator in the Philippines who then put me on hold to be finally greeted with an automated message saying they can't take the call, try again later. I have had numerous calls to technical support highlighting issues that have been dismissed with an arrogant "not their problem" statement but if you badger them sufficiently the issue seems to resolve itself! In short, you normally get what you pay for and whilst their services may appear to be cheap, in the long run they are very expensive. My advice - avoid FastHosts
