Advantages: Fast connection, 13.99 cost, Ease of signup
Disadvantages: Unreliable connection
Lets be honest, I have surfed the net since before everyone was getting online. In those days it cost too much to spend any sort of REAL length of time online, and so the net was never really explored.
Now there are so many packages aiming to get you unlimited time online that you are spoilt for choice as an ISP user. I have been with BT for over 7 months on their anytime package, before they put the price up to 15.99
Before that I was with BigBlueSky for a while before they went 'away' but have never found an ISP which I have been completely happy with. When I saw the offer online for FREE AIR MILES when you change to Freeserve I was changing asap. Not only have I got
- Free AIR MILES, but also
- First month online for FREE
AN offer which no person could turn down, especially having never tried Freeserve. Now I have been with them for a week and have had so many problems with connections that I wish I had never changed. Granted the connection speed is usually over 50,000bps compared with BT's regular 48,000 but connections often disconnect and are un-reliable.
I will be taking the company up on the month free trial, possibly carry on one month if the contract requires, and then will move to yet another ISP.
Here is hoping that at least one ISP can get its act together for the sake of UK internet connection.

- 17/10/02 How many free ail miles? What was their service like connecting you? Did you have any teething problems? Is the dial-up a freephone number? What do you get for your money? Any freetime evenings/weekends? They're the sort of questions I would like to know about an ISP before I signed up with them.
Not a bad op, lots of relevant information, but I would have liked to have heard a little more.
You'll find that you get more reads and develop a better writing style by reading other peoples ops on the site. (I noticed that you have written 5 ops and read only 2)
