Advantages: Fast Service, Free Website, Free E-mail

Disadvantages: Freezed At Times, Unhelpful Customer Service Staff, Taken Over By French Company

After seeing Freeserve's great deal for a one month free trial I couldn't wait to sign up. In a few simple steps on their website ( www.freeserve.com ) I had downloaded the dial up software and given them all the information they needed. I phoned up my old service Provider ( Bt Internet ) and said I was unhappy with their service and was changing to FreeServe! In my first few hours on freeserve I noticed how much there was to do! Their website offers alot of good information and deals. My connection speed was 45,333k despite having a 56k modem! It seems most of the service providers say fast access speed at 56k but read the small print! Only at non busy times! Like 4.00am in the morning. After my first day on Freeserve I had signed up for one of their great e-mail accounts! It was free and said would take care of that junk mail I didn't want my kids seeing!

Day two on freeserve and things got better! As I was a freeserve member I could build a free website using their simple building tools. I had great fun and so did my kids! They were on it for hours finding out how to upload photos and to add text boxes and all for free! Now I know why they call it Freeserve! Just as things were going great things went down hill! I found Freeserve just cutting out for around 30 minutes at a time! I would stay connected to the net but couldn't get any websites up! Strange? I thought it was my computer so I took it down to Pc World where They tested my computer for any bugs! £50 later and my computer was given a clean bill of health! I decided to use the English Master CD to uninstall everything on my pc and install it all again! Just to make sure that it wasn't a problem at my end! A few hours later and I was back online and things were going great! For about 2 minutes! It had done it again! That was the last straw!

I called up Freeserve who didn't tell me much apart from they were having problems at their end! A month later and I'm gla
d to say FreeServe is running fine! Maybe it was just a small problem!

Wanadoo take over Freeserve! I woke up last week to yet another letter from Freeserve! Be warned you get about two or three a month telling you about their great Broadbrand service and who you can't live without it! The letter was about how Freeserve have been taken over by a French company called Wanadoo! Ok I thought maybe the service will Improve! First thing I noticed was Free domain names went up from a cheap £10 to £20 a year! Plus they changed their e-mail layout making it harder to find things!

Speed wise they are pretty good! Loads in a few seconds but still can be slow at peak times!
If your looking for a good Internet Provider choose Freeserve! Cheap! Fast and have everything Bt Internet doesn't! £13.99 a month for anytime service!

I loathe freeserve. Im back on it now and its taking ages for pages to load, and i get tonnes of error pages too. Humph.

Welcome to dooyoo and a good first opinion. I am happy with Freeserve as they rarely let me down. However, I have Opera for my browser and Google for my search. Can't get much faster than that on a dial up connection.
