Advantages: It's cheap
Disadvantages: It's crap
I have tried a few Internet Service Providers and I must say that after using Freeserve for only about 1 week, I am NOT impressed. So far, it has been soooooooo slooooooow. What is all this rubbish about logging you out after two hours!! Unbelievable!!! If all the others Interet Service Providers can manage to keep you online for as long as you wish to stay, why can't freeserve manage it? Another thing that I don't like it this idea that you have only one e-mail address per family. What is that all about? We were with bt internet before and my husband, myself and my 10 year old daughter had our own address. We decided to change to Freeserve because for the same amount of money (£10 per month) instead of free evening and weekend internet service with bt, we can access the internet 24 hours per day and 7 days per week with Freeserve. If I could find another provider that offered me the same as Freeserve I would try it in a hearbeat. Don't like Freeserve, don't like the home page, JUST DON'T LIKE IT We tried AOL on the 10 hour free tril and it was excellent. No server problems No logging off after two hours!! Nothing!! It was brilliant but............ why pay 1p per minute off peak and 4 p per minute peak time (even for a better service) when for £10 we can get as much time as necessary. If AOl went free or similar, I WOULD GO WITH THEM IN A HEARTBEAT.

- 18/10/00 Ok my opinion of Freeserve Unlimited has changed. I have been with them for quite a while now and thought, although inconvenient with the two-hour cut off time one one email address, it wasnt a bad service overall. Now however, I find it apaulling! I can only use Freeserve between the hours of about 7 am and 6 pm due the the high demands. At weekends if ind that i can connect during the days mostly but never in the evening. You may still think that this is not bad for £10 per month,, but i am not actually getting what i ma paying for, which is 24 hours 7 days per week unlimted access. If any other business was charging a set amount for soemthing which they failed to supply,,we would be in uproar. Imagine that you couldnt make an imprtant phone call most evenings because demand was too high and there were no line availalbe. you would have something to say to Bt about that. so whilst i agree that it is still a cheaper option..Freeserve need to make some changes to help them keep up with the claims they make. When u contact them to find out what the problem is,, you are told it is because Freeserve are so popular, everyones want s to join..Well dont take on any more subscribers if you cant support the ones you have

- 26/09/00 You really summed it up in your opinion! The service is only £9.99 per month for unlimited access and no other ISP can match this price. I am with Freeserve Unlimited and if it saves me money I don't mind logging on and off every two hours, it is a small inconvenience for what is a big saving. Yes AOL are excellent, but would this be the case if they were offering an identical service for £9.99 per month, I think perhaps not! Sometimes it is slow I agree, but I was with Madasafish previously and sometimes they could be really slow when demand was high. I think we must rate each ISP fairly and not compare services which are not really comparable |
