Freeserve at the moment is being an absolute pain. Connection is fine but after around 10 minutes when we have been doing things, it decides to drop the connection. When, we dial up, the noise it makes is very muffled and grainy compared to what it was like when we had no problem connecting. Occasionly it connects and nothing ... Read the complete review

Freeserve internet is absolute rubbish. You are sometimes totally unable to get online at all. This tends to happen on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and sometimes Tuesday. Freeserve must realise this high demand for their service, and therefore they should do someting about it. They must be recieving enough money from their sponsors / ... Read the complete review

I have been using Freeserve alongside BT Surftime and for £5.99 a month I can log on 2 hours at a time after 6PM til 8AM the next day on weekdays and 24 hrs a day on weekends. So far I have had no problem with the service and connection speeds are at it's highest. For what you pay you are getting an excellent deal. I would recommend ... Read the complete review

Freeserve is a great servise, and easy to use, from taking the Cd home it took me only a few hours to get it up and running. The instructions were clear and easy to use and the set up relativly simple, a few calls to their 50p a minuet phone helpline and we were sorted with a package that let us pay £6 a month and get free off peak ... Freeserve provide a fairly good free internet access service. Connection can be difficult at times but they are no worse than their competitors. You can sign up for free access via an 0800 number. They offer free connection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week(no phone charges) if you sign up. It costs £10 per month for this. ... Read the complete review

Freeserve was quite a good starter for me to get onto the internet. It was simple to use, and easy to install- all you had to do was put the cd into your computer and away you went. howvever, there are now so many better deals out there that i soon got rid of it. I now have the annoying problem of having bits of freeserve all over my ... Read the complete review

As I understand it, Freeserve are to terminate the contracts of some 700 of their customers, and maybe even more, for "abuse of the service" and those affected and others are complaining about the decision. They argue that although Freeserve may have a legal right to do so, they question whether they have a moral ... Read the complete review

An Internet service provider, who claims to provide unlimited access for heavier users at a cost of £10 per month. This is my original opinion, please read through to the end for the final update. Having used the Internet for several years, we welcomed the opportunity to drastically reduce our telephone bill with this ... Read the complete review

I signed up around a month ago via the BT site for unlimited OFF-PEAK access using an ISP from their associate ISPs. I chose Freeserve from the list (I had not heard of dooyoo at the time, otherwise after reading other people's troubles, I may have chosen differently). Well, they did seem to go through a rough time ... Read the complete review

Freeserve (once upon a time) used to be a really good, above average speed, ISP! And at the time they were even better cause they were free! I heard of this and thought WOW - Im gonna try that! My 'honeymoon period' lasted all of 3 months, then my PC with its lovely 56kbps connection (which was quite fast at the time) ... Read the complete review

Freeserve do indeed offer questionable service. I found their penny-a-minute scheme to be competant, though I did have the occassional bit of trouble connecting. Their website layout is easy to navigate, and simplistically pleasing. It was from this platform that I subscribed and was updated upon their off-peak service. You pay £5.99 ... What a headache this has to be the worst ISP ever. You log on then the server is slow almost dead, you log off and you can’t log back on. What a disgrace. And all this after it showed a lot of promise. It used to be very good, but that was when few people had heard of it. Now, it chaotic to say the least. I, became so ... Read the complete review

Freeserve is the original free ISP, although since they were launched the word free has come to mean a whole different thing. I still remember the hassle Freeserve caused when it first launched, the UK's first free ISP, no subsciption charges, all you do is pay the phone bill. While you many laugh now at the time it was a great ... Read the complete review

Having decided to join BT Surftime (evening and weekend package)I was slightly disappointed at the limited number of I.S.P's who had actually joined the scheme, only 23 in all, and some of them so obscure I decided to play safe and go for a name I knew. Freeserve. Joining was easy and the links with BT were excellent. ... Read the complete review

Just before writing this opinion I tried to connect to the Internet and guess what it took me almost an hour to do it. I joined Freeserve about 3 months ago and in my opinion the time it take to connect is getting worse. And that not all, I keep getting cut off, sometimes only after two minutes online, yes two minutes. I think this is ... Read the complete review

I registered with Freeserve about 30 months ago before it was floated, and found it a much better ISP than the Cableinet service that I had started with (through Telewest). I was therefore delighted when in September 1999, I was able to become a member of the 'Freeserve Unlimited' group. This can be a completely free ... Read the complete review

I signed up with BT/Freeserve "Off Peak Surftime" some four months ago. At first I did not have any problems and was able to make a dial up connection within 60 seconds. However in the last 2-3 weeks the service has deteriorated to such an extent that I am lucky if I can get dialled up to their server after trying for an hour ... Read the complete review

For all those of you using Unlimited Freeserve Time, I can't speak for the other time plans, I have just spoken to their billing enquiries centre and though I should pass it on. They haven't been taking the direct debits from accounts - well not mine anyway. They are behind and are catching up now and I have been advised that all ... Read the complete review

Unfortunatley most of the time you have to set your computer to keep dialling up and go off and get a coffee! About 20 attempts usually does the trick. When you can get on this service it is very good, fast downloads and speedy web page delivery. You may be better served by forgetting the subscription to SurfTime and signing straigt up ...
